13 SPORT SCIENCE HILLS I’LL DIE ON — PART 2 👇🏼
Trainer working with seniors just take note of slide 5
Comorbidities require smart individualisation or working closely with allied health professionals ( it’s okay not to do everything yourself)
Older clients may have hypertension, diabetes, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and previous injuries all at the same time. Understanding their conditions and medications can help you establish their baseline therefore allowing you to monitor their response and progress the program better.

It’s hard to squeeze everything in one picture but i tried my best
Sport science isn’t about over complicating training, it is about eliciting certain adaptations we want, be it aesthetic or performance.
1️⃣ Your body adapts to what you repeatedly ask it to do. Train specifically for the result you want.
2️⃣ More training isn’t always better. The right volume, intensity and frequency should stimulate progress while still allowing recovery.
3️⃣ Strength, muscle and power are different qualities. Heavy loads develop strength, challenging sets build muscle, and explosive intent develops power.
4️⃣ Exercise difficulty isn’t determined by weight alone. Range of motion, leverage, speed and joint position all affect the demand.
5️⃣ Your energy systems don’t operate as separate switches. Easy cardio, intervals and high-intensity work all have different roles.
6️⃣ You cannot maximise everything simultaneously. Prioritise one goal, organise your training around it and maintain the rest.

Saw this poster at a clinic today
“Hard work doesn’t always work.”
Here’s why I disagree, and why this message matters.
Obesity is complex and multifaceted. hormones, social environment, genetics all play a role.
But exercise isn’t useless.
It improves insulin sensitivity, sleep, strength, and mood even before the scale moves. In the long run, movement is always medicine.
Medications can help, but they work best when paired with a lifestyle change.
What do you think about this message?
Do you feel pharma ads are making people lose faith in movement?
