History is made yet again! 🇸🇬 Our past and present student-athletes served up a day to remember for Team Singapore, leaving their mark at the Asian Games with performances full of grit, speed and determination.

🥈 Loh Kean Yew battled his way to a historic Asian Games silver, going toe-to-toe with Thailand’s world No. 1 Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the Men’s Singles Final. It was a smashing campaign from start to finish, capping a historic run that makes us immensely proud.

Veronica Shanti Pereira, alongside teammates Tate Tan Fung, Elizabeth-Ann Tan Shee Ru and Marc Brian Louis, hit their stride in the Mixed 4×100m Relay Final, clocking a blistering 41.19s to set a new Season Best and National Record. A performance that truly raised the bar!

Over at the diving board, Max Lee Shen Oon somersaulted to a strong 355.80 in the Men’s 3m Springboard Final, twisting and turning his way through an impressive performance.

Congratulations to all our past and present student-athletes on an incredible day of performances — keep pushing, keep believing and keep making history! 🇸🇬🔥

History made, and moments to be proud of at the ! 🇸🇬 Our past and present student-athletes in Team Singapore have delivered memorable performances on the Asian sporting stage, making their mark for Singapore.

🥇🥈 Shanti Pereira made history by defending her Women’s 200m title, becoming the only Singaporean to win the same individual event at back-to-back Asian Games. She also added a silver medal in the Women’s 100m.

🏸 Loh Kean Yew defeated World No. 1 Jonatan Christie in the Men’s Singles quarter-finals, his first victory over the Indonesian in 11 meetings, to secure Singapore’s first individual badminton medal at the Asian Games.

🥉 Our Women’s Epee fencing team, featuring alumnae Esther Tan and Nur Filzah Hidayah, fought their way to a historic joint bronze medal. This is the first time a Singaporean epee team has won a medal at the Games. Overcoming a big deficit, they staged a stunning comeback to secure a thrilling 42-41 victory.

🏊‍♀️ Current student-athlete Julia Yeo was part of the Women’s 4x100m Medley Relay team that broke the U17 national record twice in a single day. The team clocked 4:11.98 in the heats before lowering the record to 4:09.90 in the final.

🤸‍♀️ Amanda Yap was the only Southeast Asian gymnast to qualify for the Balance Beam final, finishing sixth among Asia’s best.

History made, records broken, but their fighting spirit and never-say-die attitude make us the proudest.

There is something special about seeing our student-athletes take their place on the Asian Games stage with Team Singapore. For Alfonso, Joy, Chloe, and Matthias, getting here has meant years of training, overcoming challenges, and believing in how far their sport could take them.

🤸 Alfonso Tan | Gymnastics
Alfonso’s journey has seen him step away from gymnastics twice, only to find his way back to the sport he loves. Each return has tested his resilience and determination, making his place at the Asian Games all the more meaningful.

🏊 Joy Neo | Swimming
Joy started swimming at 4, inspired by her older brother, and at just 16 is making her Major Games debut. The Asian Games marks another step in a journey she hopes will one day take her to the Olympic Games.

🏓 Chloe Lai | Table Tennis
Chloe picked up table tennis at six and has since progressed from local competitions to testing herself against some of the world’s best. Now, she is making her debut at the biggest competition of her career so far.

🤽🏻‍♂️ Matthias Goh | Water Polo
Matthias was introduced to water polo at 9, and what began as simply giving the sport a try grew into a genuine passion. Today, he is taking on the Asian Games while also balancing the demands of his upcoming IBDP examinations.

We are incredibly proud of the journeys that have brought each of them here. Read more about them here: https://www.sportsschool.edu.sg/news-and-publications/archive/aug26/on-the-road-to-the-asian-games
