Gryphon Recall 2026 | 18 July 2026
As one ORA Judo family, we gathered for a memorable day. Some recalled old memories, while others made new ones.

We also held our inaugural Gryphon Team Challenge, with Team Adena emerging as champions, taking home the Challenge Trophy and a nice cash prize 😁. Thank you to everyone who made this day a success!

Our annual Gryphon Recall is happening on Saturday, 18 July 2026, from 9:00am to 12:00pm at the Raffles Institution Gymnasium.

This year, we're introducing an exciting new event to make Gryphon Recall even more memorable! In addition to our usual uchikomi and kata refresher sessions, we'll be holding the inaugural ORA Judo Club Team Challenge. Swipe to the second page for details, signup link in bio. Do note that only 1 member has to register for the team.

Even if you don't plan to train, do come by to catch up with old friends and support the participants. Bring your kids along too—they'll have the opportunity to learn some simple and fun judo techniques.

We'll round off the morning with food and refreshments, so there's plenty of time to relax and reconnect. See you there!

/Milestone check/
19 June 2026 marks ORA Judo Club's 1st anniversary since ROS recognised us as an official society in Singapore. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been with us one way or another throughout this journey, be it alumni, students, coaches or teachers.

As we celebrate this milestone, we encourage everyone to continue your judo journey with us—join our trainings, participate in club activities, help mentor our juniors, and contribute to building a stronger and more vibrant judo community. We also welcome more volunteers to join our committee. PM me if you are interested 😊

Together, let's continue learning, supporting one another, and growing ORA Judo Club for many years to come!

TLDR of what the club has achieved and what to look forward to:
//2024//
- RI judo almost closed down in October
- 1,965 alumni and students signed a petition to preserve Raffles Judo in November

//2025//
- Interest in judo rose sharply from the previous year, with more than 40 signups in January
- ORA Judo Club officially approved in April
- ORA Judo Club officially recognized as a society under ROS in June
- First club merch released in June: Coool t-shirt
- 3x World champion and Olympic Champion Jeon Ki Young attended our Gryphon's Recall in July

//2026//
- More than 40 alumni and students attended the first official ORA Judo Club training in January
- A div boys (+1 bronze), A div girls (+1 gold, +2 bronze) and B div boys (+1 gold, +2 silver, +3 bronze) ALL improved their results from 2025's results at the NSG in April
- 2 ORA Judo members bagged a gold in the Juniors category, as well as a silver and bronze in the Seniors category at the Penang International Invitational in April

- C div NSG on 30-31st July

Always a crowd favorite, Mr Low Chee Kiang, dropped by to give a masterclass at the RI dojo for both SJC and our students. Everyone learnt so much and we had a great time sparring with our SJC buddies too!

One thing's for sure...the man's still got it (see video for proof).

2026 National School Games A and B Division results:
B div boys - 2 gold, 2 silver, 4 bronze
A div girls - 1 gold, 2 bronze
A div boys - 1 silver, 3 bronze

The students have worked hard and we're happy to announce that this year's results are an improvement from last year's! We hope the students enjoyed themselves and forged lasting memories through this experience. Thank you to all who have contributed in one way or another, and we look forward to preparing the C division for their upcoming NSG in June.

Last Monday, ORA Judo Club coach Mr Low Chee Kiang came back to prepare our students for their A and B division National School Games. It was insightful for everyone and the students enjoyed honing their competition techniques for their upcoming fights!

The alumni also got a chance to catch up with Mr Low and each other at our favourite non-sponsor burger hang out afterwards.

Session 2 complete. Thank you to all the alumni and students who came down today! Also, here's wishing our hardworking students all the best in the Kyu Grade Championships tomorrow, make Raffles proud!

First ORA Judo Club training in the books, and what a great turn out it was! We hope everyone had fun forming new connections within the Raffles judo family, as well as learning techniques from our established alumni.
