What goes together like salt and pepper? Deft hands and keen eyes for detail, of course.

That's what you'll find with our tradesmen, day in, day out. They really don't miss a beat.

Our tradesmen employ many different tools in their roles at our various sites, but one thing remains the same, no job is worth the rush if safety will be compromised.

Why? Because a safe work environment is the only acceptable work environment.

It's the final Thursday of the month, and at Aegis, that's the time for our monthly Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) meeting.

Besides going through the rigours of safety protocols and highlighting any safety related issues that happened the past month, this was also a time for the office staff to discuss some other pertinent matters over lunch, since this is one of the few occasions almost everyone is back in the office!

Last weekend, we held our annual 7th month prayers as part of the hungry ghost festival!

Something we look forward to every year, this is where everyone company-wide comes together not just to partake in or observe the prayers, but it's also a time to interact with everyone, office staff and tradesmen alike, in a casual and festive environment!

Typically, Sundays here are for training sessions and light talks with our tradesmen.

But today, thanks to the generosity of Abu Sufyan and his friends, and as part of their efforts to give back to the migrants worker community for all the work they do, lunch for our tradesmen was sponsored, with hearty servings of Chicken Nasi Sambal Goreng.

From all of us at Aegis Building & Engineering, we thank you for your kindness, generosity, support and the love you show to migrant workers in Singapore.

Over the weekend, our managing director, Mr Yeong, together with our sales manager, Eugene, represented the company at the Marina Bay Sands partners appreciation dinner.

Getting to where we are has been an ongoing journey over the years, and we are heartened to be recognised by partners that we have worked closely with all these years.

To all our partners, here's to many more fruitful years of working together!

Last week, we talked about personal protection equipment (PPE) and safety, but there's also another element to this whole safety aspect.

Every morning, before work proper commences at our various job sites, our supervisors start with a briefing on the day's objective, and a reminder to all on the importance of personal safety during the work day.

It may seem insignificant or repetitive, but it is the little things like these daily safety briefs that have helped us to maintain a near-perfect safety record for our tradesmen.

PPE, or personal protection equipment, is a key part of what keeps our tradesmen safe when they are on the job.

Like this tradesman with a paint gun, he wears a heavy respirator to protect himself from breathing in any noxious fumes while doing spray painting work.

But there's also another element of safety, one that takes place every morning before work commences.

Every year, there are two occasions which are of utmost significance to us, and those are Chinese New Year and the Hungry Ghost Festival.

Today marks the start of the Seventh Month on the lunar calendar, and we are also in the midst of final preparations for our own prayers and commemoration next week.

Stay tuned for more photos to follow!
