One of the strangest things I hear:

“I need to get fitter before I join a gym.”

That’s like saying you need to get smarter before going to school.

You don’t need to arrive ready. You need a place that knows how to meet you where you are.

Have you ever felt like you needed to “get fit first” before joining a gym?

Dirty Little Secrets of Running a Gym — Episode 6

People think the hardest part of running a gym is losing members.

It’s not.

The hardest part is when a great coach leaves.

Behind every great coach are years of conversations, mentoring, mistakes, growth and trust. You don’t just lose an employee—you say goodbye to someone who helped shape your community and change lives.

As a gym owner, you’re proud to see them grow, even if it hurts to watch them move on.

That’s a side of coaching most people never get to see.

Next episode:
“I’m not fit enough to join.”
Let’s talk about the biggest lie keeping people away from the gym.

What do you think is the hardest part of being a leader?

Dirty Little Secrets of Running a Gym – Episode 5

One thing I’ve noticed after running a gym for over a decade…

The people who spend the most time asking for discounts are often the ones who expect the most in return.

It’s not really about the money.

It’s about how people value what they’re investing in.

If you genuinely believe a coaching membership isn’t worth the investment, don’t join. Find a place that fits your budget and goals.

But if your first question is always, “Can you do it cheaper?”, ask yourself this:

Are you investing in your health…
or just delaying the bill until it becomes a doctor’s appointment?

Curious if other business owners have experienced the same.

What’s your take?

Dirty Little Secrets of Running a Gym – Episode 4

People often ask me what’s the hardest part about running a gym.

Most assume it’s paying rent, finding members, or dealing with equipment.

The truth?

Nobody really talks about how lonely leadership can be.

As a gym owner, you’re expected to have the answers. You carry the weight of your team’s livelihood, your members’ progress, and the countless decisions nobody else sees.

You celebrate wins with everyone.

But many of the tough decisions… you face alone.

It’s not a complaint. It’s simply one of the realities that comes with building something you care deeply about.

If you’re a business owner, leader, or coach, you’ve probably felt this too.

What’s one part of leadership that nobody warned you about?

Dirty Little Secrets of Running a Gym #3

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that gym owners must be making a fortune.

The reality?

Most of us are constantly balancing rent, payroll, equipment, maintenance and everything else that comes with running a business. We don’t do it because it’s the fastest way to get rich. We do it because we genuinely love building a community and seeing people’s lives change.

Don’t get me wrong—there are gym owners who are very successful, and they’ve earned it. But for many of us, it’s a labour of love long before it’s a profitable business.

What’s the biggest misconception you’ve heard about gym owners or coaches?

Your coach is NOT your therapist.

But sometimes… they become one.

Over the past 11 years of running a gym, I’ve listened to stories about marriages, careers, mental health, confidence, family struggles and everything in between.

Most coaches signed up to help people get stronger.

Nobody tells you that sometimes the heaviest thing your members carry isn’t on the barbell.

This is one of the dirty little secrets of running a gym.

Dirty Little Secrets of Running a Gym — Episode 2.

Have you ever opened up to a coach about something that had nothing to do with fitness?

Dirty Little Secrets of Running a Gym — Episode 1

After running a gym for 11 years, here’s something most gym owners won’t admit.

Your members don’t really care how expensive your equipment is.

They don’t sign up because you bought a new machine.
They don’t stay because you imported the latest barbells.

People stay because they trust the coaches, enjoy the community, and actually look forward to walking through the doors.

The best equipment in the world can’t fix a bad culture.

This is just the first of many lessons I’ve learned after 11 years in the fitness industry.

Agree or disagree?

More dirty little secrets coming soon.

Still waiting until you’re “fit enough” to join a gym?

Here’s something we’ve learned after coaching hundreds of people…

Nobody has ever walked into Red Dot Fitness because they were already fit.

They came because they wanted to become stronger.
More confident.
Healthier.
And they simply decided to start.

That’s exactly why our 2-Week Trial exists.

No long-term commitment.
No pressure.
No judgement.

Just two weeks to experience expert coaching, an amazing community, and workouts that are tailored to your fitness level.

Whether you’ve never stepped into a gym or you’re looking to get back into training, we’d love to have you.

30 seconds in… I questioned my life choices.

The People’s Problem. ❤️

Legs first, Feelip !

One team. One goal.

Suffering together > suffering alone.

This smile was… temporary.

Who invented sandbags anyway?

“Just one more rep…”

(Everyone’s biggest lie.)

Lift for something bigger.

Mission accomplished. ❤️

Thanks for everyone who supported us.

You don’t remember your finishing time. You remember who you finished with.

Yesterday, the Red Dot Fitness coaches took on Battle Cancer alongside an incredible community, all for a cause that’s so much bigger than fitness.

There were plenty of moments where we questioned our life choices (see the first photo 😂), but we’d do it all over again.

Watching athletes of all fitness levels come together, push through the pain and support one another was a powerful reminder of what this community is all about. It wasn’t about who finished first—it was about showing up for a cause that affects so many lives.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated, cheered us on, volunteered and made this event possible. Your support means more than you know.

The workout may be over, but the fight isn’t.

The fundraising link is in my bio, and donations are open until tomorrow (20 July, Monday). If you’ve been meaning to contribute, there’s still time. Every donation, no matter the amount, helps make a difference.

Thank you for being part of something bigger than the workout. ❤️

Do I really need another fitness wearable?

Probably not.

But the Hume Band 2.0 promises a closer look at recovery, sleep, strain and the habits behind performance — so naturally, I had to test it for myself.

Unboxing it today.
Now comes the important part: seeing whether the data is actually useful, or just another set of numbers to obsess over.

I’ll share my honest experience after wearing it consistently.

What would you want me to test first: sleep, recovery or training?
