So much fun bridging jazz across art forms (music and dance), between music genres (traditional folk and jazz), the foreign and local (rewriting jazz standard tunes into our SG context), and jazz to unlikely communities.
Thanks to National Arts Council SG Heartbeat@Bedok South East CDC for the opportunity to share jazz music and dance in the heartlands!

Thank you for your art, Kusama-san. Rest in peace amongst pumpkins and polka dots, in love, to infinity
We did so much in 3 weeks! Students did well learning the basics, the choreo, but more importantly a little about the history of the dance and culture, as well as understanding the music that inspired the movement! Had to try and remember all the different stylings we spoke about during this recap! š¤Ŗ

An old social dancing clip with Alex C at Marina Bay Sands at Swing the Night Away organized by Where to Lindy Hop in Singapore, encapsulating all the reasons why I love jazz as dance and music - jazz as dance music. And a perfect clip to celebrate International Dance Day (29 Apr) and International Jazz Day (30 Apr)!
Swing by for classes and the parties, like this one here at our annual Valentineās Day party!

I love this capture of a move I tried leading for the first time with Zan. You can see that in the first time around, there was a slight glitch, and it shows on both our faces, realizing that tricky bit in the move. The I moved into a holding pattern to process what went wrong and I said āagainā, doing much better the second time around after we both thought through what needed to be re-worked.
I love impromptu moments captured on video because they reveal so much more of the processed behind things, which in our society of the spectacle screens out. I think we can only move forward when we examine processes, not products. Thoughts?
Magical creatures doing some magical steps
