30th Asian Cities Taekwondo Championships – Hong Kong 🇭🇰🥋

Our small team travelled to Hong Kong for the 30th Asian Cities Taekwondo Championships, taking on strong competitors from across the region. For most of our athletes, this was also their first time competing in Hong Kong, making the experience even more meaningful. Though small in numbers, the team demonstrated tremendous determination, resilience, and fighting spirit throughout the competition. 💪

From closely contested Poomsae performances to tough Kyorugi matches, every athlete gave their best and represented Team J H Kim with pride.

A special congratulations to Roshan, who completed the full set of medals — Gold in Kyorugi, Silver in Team Poomsae, and Bronze in Pair Poomsae. 🥇🥈🥉👏

Led by Master Lai Han Seng, who also captured Gold in the Individual Poomsae event, the team achieved 3rd Runner-up Overall in both the Junior Poomsae and Senior Poomsae categories — a testament to the collective effort of every athlete, coach, and supporter. 🏆

After all the overseas excitement, it was back to Singapore for the Singapore Open Taekwondo Championships 2026! 🥋🇸🇬

The Singapore Open 2026 brought together athletes aged 12 years and above for an exciting showcase of Poomsae and Kyorugi competition.

The Poomsae events featured Individual, Pair, and Team categories in a knockout format, adding another level of excitement as every round counted. In Kyorugi, our athletes battled through three rounds of two minutes, demonstrating resilience, strategy, and fighting spirit against strong opponents. 💪

Beyond the main competition, our athletes also took part in the Virtual Taekwondo Carnival event; continuing to explore this growing discipline. We are equally proud of our dedicated students who volunteered to help manage the Virtual Taekwondo court, once again reflecting our belief that Taekwondo is not just about competing, but also about serving and contributing to the community. 🙏

1st Virtual Taekwondo Championships & SEA Virtual Taekwondo Series – Malaysia Leg 🇲🇾🥋

Our team travelled to Malaysia for the 1st Virtual Taekwondo Championships, held alongside the SEA Virtual Taekwondo Series – Malaysia Leg, where six of our athletes took on a highly competitive international field. 💪

For some, this was another opportunity to test themselves on the international stage, while for others it was a valuable new experience. Every match was an opportunity to learn, improve, and grow.

Beyond competing, Team J H Kim also continued to support the development of Virtual Taekwondo, contributing both on and off the competition arena as we work together to grow this exciting new discipline.

National School Games 2026 — Kyorugi 🥋🔥

Held on 11–13 May 2026, the Kyorugi events brought together many strong Primary and Secondary School athletes from across Singapore for three intense days of competition. 💪

With the body-kick-only competition format adding an extra tactical challenge, our athletes had to adapt quickly while maintaining control, speed, and fighting spirit throughout their matches — especially with any kick or hand technique to the face resulting in immediate disqualification. Moreover, for a number of our students, this was also their very first NSG Kyorugi experience, and they stepped onto the competition floor with courage and determination, delivering performances to be proud of. 👏

Congratulations as well to Team SJI, whose overall placings — based on the combined results of both Poomsae and Kyorugi — reflected the tremendous effort put in throughout the season. The team maintained their 3rd Overall Placing in the C Division for the 2nd consecutive year, and achieved a historic 4th Overall Placing in the B Division. 🏆🌟

Well done to all athletes for your hard work, perseverance, and sportsmanship throughout the NSG season.

National School Games 2026 — A Division Poomsae 🥋🔥

Held on 8 May 2026, our A Division athletes delivered strong performances after months of hard work, preparation, and consistent training. Their composure, teamwork, and determination were clearly reflected on the competition floor. 💪

Beyond Team J H Kim, we are also proud of Team HCI, whom Ms Joanne — supported by Master Lai — has been coaching three times a week in the lead-up to the National School Games. HCI once again demonstrated their strength in Poomsae, retaining both the Boys’ and Girls’ Division Championship titles for the 8th consecutive year. 🏆🏆

Congratulations to all athletes for representing your schools and teams with discipline, perseverance, and spirit. Our team will next be travelling to Thailand for another exciting experience. 🌟

The Han Foundation Youth Taekwondo Championships 2026 — our first competition in Singapore for the year! 🥋🔥

This championship provided a meaningful platform for our youth and young children to compete, learn, and grow, featuring Poomsae, Virtual Taekwondo, and non-head contact Kyorugi as part of a progressive pathway towards the National School Games and beyond. 💪

At J H Kim Taekwondo Institute, we are not just participants — we are also the team behind the championships.
