Derek Bicycle Services is looking for a Junior Bicycle Mechanic to join our workshop at Lower Delta Road.

If you have a strong mechanical foundation, a disciplined work ethic, and want to hone your skills under experienced mechanics, this role is for you.

Responsibilities:
1) Perform bicycle servicing, builds, and standard component replacements.
2) Maintain workshop cleanliness and tool organization.
3) Assist with basic customer intake and frontline shop duties when required.

Requirements:
1) Basic experience working on road, mountain, or foldie bicycles (Brompton knowledge is an advantage).
2) Willingness to learn, take direction, and work efficiently.
3) Strong team player with a practical, hands-on mindset.

Escaped the local heat for a 6-day cycling escapade in Hokkaido, and Japan definitely did not disappoint.

We traded humidity for quiet mountain passes, Lake Toya views, and Mt Yotei vistas. The climbs were brutal, but the breathtaking views made us forget the leg pain. Picturesque countryside and amazing vantage points were aplenty—we just could not get enough. Post-ride meals were the ultimate reward, though in hindsight, we should have eaten even more.

That is 427km and 6,650m of climbing officially in the bag. Big shoutout to our service provider, Shangrila Cycling Tours (https://www.facebook.com/ShangrilaAlvin), for setting this up perfectly.
