Should you train differently during perimenopause?
The answer is: potentially, but probably not in the way you think.
You don't necessarily need different exercises.
You need different priorities.
✔️ Building and maintaining muscle
✔️ Supporting bone health
✔️ Prioritising recovery
✔️ Staying consistent
Small changes to your approach can make a big difference over time.

Transformation is rarely about weight alone.
When Megha, 34, joined SuRge, she had already achieved an incredible milestone, losing 27kg through nutritional changes. However, she still hadn't reached her desired body weight, was managing a left disc herniation, and wanted to become stronger without compromising her health.
Over 16 weeks, the focus shifted from simply losing weight to building sustainable habits through progressive strength training, nutrition that suited her lacto-ovo-vegetarian lifestyle, and a programme that worked around the realities of being a working mother.
She even enjoyed a 2.5-week overseas holiday during her journey and still achieved her goal.
Today, Megha weighs 47kg, has improved her strength in the gym, and experiences less back pain than before.
Her story is a reminder that successful transformations aren't about perfection, they're about building a lifestyle you can sustain.

SuRge wasn't built because we wanted to open another gym.
It was built because we believed coaching could be done differently.
We wanted to create a place where people aren't just given workouts, they're given guidance, education, and a plan that fits their life. Where progress isn't measured by quick fixes, but by habits that last.
In this clip from the SuRge Founders Podcast, we share what inspired us to take that leap and build the coaching environment we wished existed.

What inspired you to pursue the work you do today? We'd love to hear your story.
June, 52, came to SURGE in the middle of menopause, carrying knee pain, low energy, and the slow weight gain most women her age are quietly told is just the new baseline.
Her sessions a week didn't change much. What changed was the work around them.
Protein she'd been under-eating for years. The steps she chose to walk every day. A coach in Grace who paid attention to what wasn't being said.
10 months on, she's squatting 47.5kg, almost her own bodyweight, and travels overseas without the quiet anxiety she used to carry into every hotel room.
Watch her story. Tell us in the comments what you wish someone had told you about menopause and strength.

Success isn't always found in the numbers.
For us, it's seeing clients become more confident. It's watching coaches grow into leaders. It's hearing someone say they can finally enjoy life without pain.
The metrics matter, but they're never the reason we started.
This is one of our favourite conversations from the SuRge Founders Podcast, where we discuss what success really looks like beyond revenue, followers and KPIs.
