Hearts-in-Motion at Passion Wave Jurong Lake Gardens today. Always grateful to .passionwave Jurong Lake Gardens for supporting and partnering us in the journey. Sabre Shark set up a recruitment booth and brought Nagomi Art activity to the participants of the event.

Our little Project Blue Wave Ambassadors from Keat Hong Tigers and Sabre Shark Sea Scouts impressed the crowd with their knowledge of waterway conservation and educating the public on how they can do their part to keep our waterways clean.

Of course, the highlight was the visit by Chief Scout, President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and the Ministers at our booths. We shared with them the work we do at Passion Wave to bring Scouting to the community as well as our strong partnership with Passion Wave, including adapting the syllabus and extending the Project Blue Wave Ambassadors training to our youths. The vision was great, but having partners that support the vision was what made everything possible.

It was a booster for our youths and leaders to continue doing our best to bring the values and beliefs of Scouting to the community.

Finally, seeing ALL our leaders in uniform after so many years was a great encouragement that we are all in this as a team.

The Sharkies had our Sabre Shark Parent-Child Lake Clean-Up yesterday. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, the launch was rather delayed but we were extremely thankful for the patience and understanding of those who joined us. As a Scout honour, we promise that we will do better the next time.

We were thrilled to have Kayler, one of the West Area cubs, who stepped up courageously in assisting with the Project Blue Wave briefing. Other than attending our sessions, we hope that our participants can share their knowledge and experience with others, to encourage them to do their part in marine/ waterways conservation.

Of course, it is also extremely heartening for the Sharkies as our alumni are bringing their families to join us for our activities. What touched us the most was, they showcased the spirit of Scouting and SPSSRSSC (hahaha, do we still remember what this stands for?) by taking so much initiatives to help in the smooth running of the event. Imagine the elation when we heard that they were SP Rovers alumni! The SPSSRSSC blood truly runs deep in us.

Sabre Shark is conducting a Project Blue Wave Ambassador training for kids between 7 to 12 years old on 25 April morning. This collaboration is a first, where Sabre Shark worked with Passion Wave, to adapt the existing adult training materials for kids, with the belief that our kids can also be spokespersons for marine conservation. In line with the educational outcomes of the Scout Youth Programme, we also want to nurture youths who are like Kayler, to be courageous and confident, in spreading the awareness of the causes they believe in.

We had an exciting and energizing morning at our birdwatching session, with an overwhelming turnout! 🌿🐦

After a short briefing by our wonderful and knowledgeable leader, Ms. Iris, on how to observe and identify birds, we set off on our little adventure. To our surprise, the kids were the real stars of the day — their sharp eyes helped us spot so many of our feathered friends!

By the end of the walk, we had identified around 10 different birds and learned to recognize several distinct bird calls. And guess what? Not a single complaint about the heat or the distance we covered — we were far too focused on the thrill of the hunt!

Here are some of the birds we spotted:
✨ Hornbill
✨ Bulbuls
✨ Water hen
✨ Sunbirds
✨ Oriole
✨ Heron
✨ Egret
✨ And possibly a Woodpecker and Kingfisher!

A morning well spent in nature, filled with curiosity, teamwork, and discovery. Can’t wait for the next one! 🌳💚
