Football players spend very little time working on their top end mechanics and one of the easiest way to do is introducing wickets as a prep for top speed exposure. Think fly 10s etc.
Wickets help promote the front side mechanics so that we avoid over pushing which can lead to hamstring issues for some athletes. Over pushing means we have less time for our recovery leg to get back and now we end up “pulling” ourselves forward by planting the swing leg in front and dragging ourselves through.
Wickets fix this by constraining your ability to overstride. Great self organising drill.
