Solomon Islands Floorball Climbs to World No. 22

The Solomon Islands men's 3v3 floorball team has risen to 22nd in the latest International Floorball Federation world rankings after its debut at the 2026 World Championship in Madrid, Spain.

The Basiotos recorded wins over Hong Kong and Côte d'Ivoire, finishing ahead of several larger nations.

FFSI President Adam Olofsson described the ranking as a historic achievement and said the team's next goal is to break into the world's top 16.

National goalkeeper MacArthur Kumakana said the achievement proves that Solomon Islands can compete with the world's best.

The Solomon Islands men's floorball team has climbed to 22nd in the latest International Floorball Federation (IFF) 3v3 world rankings after an impressive debut at the 2026 World Championship in Spain, with the federation now targeting a top-16 finish at the next tournament.

With this new ranking, Solomon Islands is placed ahead of countries including Brazil, the Netherlands, China, Hong Kong, Colombia and Côte d'Ivoire with Federation president Adam Olofsson saying he never imagined the team would climb the world rankings so quickly whilst highlighting that the achievement came from thousands of hours of hard work and passion.

Goalkeeper MacArthur Kumakana has become the first Solomon Islands floorball player to secure trial opportunities with European clubs after impressing scouts during the national team's debut at the IFF 3v3 Floorball World Championship in Spain.

With interest from five clubs and support from the Floorball Federation of Solomon Islands, the 21-year-old hopes to earn a professional contract and pave the way for more young Solomon Islanders to pursue international opportunities in the rapidly growing sport.

Svenskere i dansk floorball har vi set før, men en målmand fra Salomonøerne er noget af en sjældenhed.

Begge dele var på banen i AIC her til aften, hvor Macarthur (tv) og Adam supplerede Attacks ligahold i en træningskamp mod Helsingør.
Hvordan det kom i stand er en halvlang historie, men den er gået over Spanien, hvor begge spillere lige har været til 3v3-VM.
Nu er de begge i Malmø, og i dag var de altså i Hvidovre.
Nu må vi se, hvad fremtiden bringer.
Attack vandt i øvrigt 7-2.

Twenty-one-year-old MacArthur Kumakana has become the first Solomon Islands floorball player to earn a trial opportunity with clubs in Europe.

The goalkeeper impressed scouts during the Solomon Islands' debut appearance at the IFF 3v3 Floorball World Championship in Spain earlier this month and is currently in Sweden pursuing trial opportunities.

Speaking to TTSSI, Kumakana said he is proud to be the first Solomon Islander to receive such an opportunity and hopes it will inspire more young players to take up the sport.

So far, five European clubs have expressed interest in the talented goalkeeper, including Danish club Hvidovre Attack, with the lad encouraged to make the most of the opportunity for both his personal development and the growth of floorball in the Solomon Islands.

If successful, Kumakana could become the first Solomon Islander to play professional floorball in Europe, marking another major milestone for the sport, which was only introduced to the country in 2022.
