♿🤝NSC & NDFSI STEP UP PREPARATIONS FOR PLAY FOR EQUITY OPEN DAY

Preparations are gathering momentum for the upcoming Play For Equity Open Day, scheduled for Saturday, 5 September 2026 at Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS).

The National Sports Council (NSC) Sports & Recreational Development Department met with the National Disability Forum Solomon Islands (NDFSI) team today to discuss final preparations for an event supported through the Play for Equity grant.

The Open Day aims to unite and empower persons with disabilities, particularly women and girls, while creating greater opportunities for men and boys to participate in sport, recreation and lifestyle activities in a holistic and inclusive environment.

The programme will feature sport and recreational activities alongside registration and database development, talent identification, sports pathways, inclusive community-led activities, and empowerment sessions designed to help change perceptions and address barriers to participation.

Today's meeting marks another important step in strengthening collaboration between NSC and NDFSI as preparations continue to ensure the Play For Equity Open Day provides a meaningful, inclusive and empowering experience for participants.

This activity is supported by the Play for Equity grant through the Australian Government's Team Up Program, in partnership with the International Olympic Committee through its Olympism365 strategy.

More updates to come as we gear up for 5 September.
