The PTCC Won an Exciting Match Today !!!!!

Match Report : M. Zubair Khan Dated: February 22, 2014

The match was played against Ansari Eleven who, this time, seemed to be very confident of taking revenge of their previous badly defeated match played on the same pitch about three months ago. This confidence and the hope for the victory of theirs were doubled when they won the toss and taking to bat first set up a massive target of 205 in 16 overs. Their one of the opening batsmen, a bulky Inzamam looking guy, unleashed a havoc on the PTCC bowlers by hitting most of their balls out of the boundaries every now and then. He was caught by Zubair on short mid -off on Amman's ball in the penultimate over only when he had done his job - a brilliant century. He seemed to have been a solo performer of the innings from their side as the other batsmen remained overshadowed and unnoticeable in the play.
The PTCC bowlers evinced very paltry performance except a couple of individual overs, one by Mouiz and one by Naveed Awan or maybe a couple more by other bowlers in which less runs were conceded otherwise the pace of their run rate remained flying high well till the end. The PTCC's fielding on the other hand was commendable at some occasions, particularly the captain's fielding who saved some sure boundaries with his brisk and nimble moves with some boundary-bound running and flying shots.

The PTCC's batting start was promising. Umar Kayani got in aggressive mood since the very outset and hit 14 runs in the very initial over. At the end of the second over the score reached 29. Ghulam Mujtaba unlike Omar Kayani appeared to be down-toned today. He got out pretty soon after picking a few singles only. Sandeed was the next batsman to join Omar. The second wicket also fell early on when Omar got caught behind. Then Abdul Qadeer got in to join Sandeed. Sadeed, did happen to hit some lofty sixes, nevertheless his innings remained quite unimpressive today. He was lucky to get three sure chances of drop catches but still could not build that bombastic tempo he is known of. He went away prematurely dashing all the hopes pinned to him. After Omar, Mujtaba, and Sandeed's wickets fallen down the hope for victory started fading away.
Anyway, the development trudged along and a critical scenario emerged when in the last two overs 32 runs were needed for the victory, and on the crease there were Naveed Awan and Amman. Amman has been reflecting a ray of hope as he had hit some spasmodic boundaries occasionally but at the same time a lot of awkward missing by him was also witnessed time and again which seemed to eclipse this ray of hope well nigh. However, the hope got kindled when Naveed and Amman both happened to manage 16 runs in the second last over, and now what was left for the last 6 balls were another 16 runs which was apparently an uphill task to achieve as most of the runs in the previous over were gifted by the bowler himself in the form of wide and no balls rather than earned by the batsmen. Thanks to the nervousness of the bowler another 6 wide runs had lowered the target down to 10, and when the first valid ball came on the pitch a drama emerged; Naveed Awan got run out while Amman was attempting a double. This was affordable as losing wicket was not an issue at this moment. So, Muiz filled the place and joined Amman at this juncture.
The situation got further boiled down to the point where last 3 balls and 6 runs for the victory was the eventual and ultimate proposition. So, in came the 4th ball from the bowler, and before it got pitched, Amman thrashed it away over the mid wicket and there prevailed an uproar of joy and excitement over the ground by all the PTCC players who started hugging and embracing the match winner guy passionately. Amman scored 56 with four sixes.

Thus was an exciting victory by the PTCC in this match.
