To love others truly, we need to love ourselves first.
Including ourselves in the circle of love and compassion can be much more difficult than being loving towards others. And often our children learn this from us, too.
How can we model self-love in y
our daily lives so that our dear ones can be inspired and learn from us, too?
It is okay to give yourself love and to be kind to yourself.
Which of these loving kindness phrases most resonates with you? You can bring someone you love to mind:
- May you and I be well.
- May you and I be happy.
- May you and I be healthy.
- May you and I live with joy and ease.
- And may you and I enjoy true peace in our lives.
The practice of Metta Meditation or Loving Kindness Meditation (LKM) is very dear to me. I started meditating using a guided metta recorded by a teacher and within 30 days the daily practice had great effects on me: people said I looked happy and peaceful, that my presence made them feel calm, and that I looked better than ever.
I then learned how to write my own phrases and I would love to guide you how to write your own.
My personal phrases right now are:
- May I be kind to myself
- May I hold myself with gentleness and warmth
- May I love myself just as I am.

If you've swiped through the slides, you’ll see my journey from the initial freedom of expat life to hitting a massive wall of stress and overwhelm. It was a challenging turning point, a mini-crisis that led me to the mindset shift that now anchors my work and life:
