π¦π· LIONEL MESSI ANNOUNCES HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE ARGENTINA NATIONAL TEAM
π¦π· The end of an era.
Here are Messi's own words:
βAfter all this time since the final, and after thinking about it a lot, I want to tell everyone that Iβm retiring from the national teamβ¦
"It was a decision that hurt and still hurts deep inside, but I understand that this is the right moment.
"I swear I always gave everything, not only in these last few years when we won everything, but before that too. I always fought and gave everything for this shirt, to bring you happiness and make you feel proud to be Argentine through football.
"There isnβt much time left, and different chapters are coming to an end. This is one that hurts me a lot. I love, I loved, and I will always love being part of the national team. I gave everything I had, and I donβt have anything more to give.
"Also, there are great young players coming through who deserve to be here.
"Thank you for all the love during these 20 years. Iβm going to miss hearing you from the inside. Now Iβll be one of you, always supporting from the outside, in the good times and even more in the bad ones.
"Thank you to my family for always being there and for being with me throughout this beautiful but difficult journey. Thank you to every coach, teammate and director I had the chance to share it with. I take with me unforgettable memories and moments.
"I leave with peace and pride, knowing that together with my teammates we gave you moments we once dreamed of. It was crazy to experience all of this with you. I love you!
"Thank you God for making me Argentine.
"Vamos Argentina!
"I wrote these words on July 21, two days after the final. Today, after what happened with my dad, Iβm even more convinced of this decision than before.β

π¦π· Some players wear the Argentina shirt.
Some become part of what it means.
Lionel Messi walking in the colours of the Albiceleste is an image that needs very few words.
The No. 10. The captain. The player who turned countless impossible dreams into memories shared by an entire generation.
Whatever comes next, this shirt will always carry a piece of his story.
And for millions of Argentina supporters around the world, that story will always mean more than football. π©΅

π¦π· One month later, and this moment still hurts.
A month has passed since Argentina's unforgettable 2026 World Cup final, yet the image of Lionel Messi sitting on the pitch in tears still feels impossible to forget.
It wasn't simply the ending of a tournament. It felt like the closing of a chapter that had defined Argentine football for two decades.
Through the victories, the heartbreak, the pressure and the glory, Messi gave Argentina memories that will live forever. And perhaps that's why those tears felt bigger than one player.
They belonged to an entire country.
Some chapters end with trophies. Others end with tears. Both become history. π¦π·

π¦π· Twenty-one years ago, Messi's Argentina story began in the most unexpected way.
On August 17, 2005, an 18-year-old Lionel Messi made his senior Argentina debut against Hungary in Budapest.
He came on as a substitute in the 63rd minute. Less than a minute later, his debut was over after he was shown a straight red following an incident with Vilmos VanczΓ‘k.
It was a difficult beginning for a teenager who would eventually become Argentina's captain, World Cup champion and one of the greatest players in football history.
From a debut that lasted seconds to a career that changed Argentina forever.
Some stories begin with glory. Messi's began with a red card. π¦π·β€οΈ

π¦π· Some moments in football are bigger than football.
At 68, Jorge Horacio Messi, Lionel Messiβs father, has passed away after a long battle with illness.
Behind one of the greatest footballers in history was a father who shared the journey from the very beginning. Through every victory, every difficult moment, and every milestone, Jorge remained part of Leoβs story.
Football gave Lionel Messi the world. Family gave him the strength to walk through it.
Today, our thoughts are with Leo, his family, and everyone who loved Jorge. π€π¦π·

β€οΈπ¦π· Some heroes wear gloves.
Some heroes simply lend a hand.
World Cup winner Emiliano "Dibu" MartΓnez found himself stranded after his truck became stuck in the mud near Sierra de los Padres while trying to help his brother.
What happened next felt like something straight out of a football story.
Leandro AlbarracΓn and his son Ramiro, lifelong Argentina supporters who had gone out hoping to meet Dibu, spent more than three hours helping rescue the goalkeeper.
π Before leaving, Dibu smiled and told them they had "saved" him.
Then came a moment they'll never forget.
He took off his official Argentina National Team jacket and gifted it to Leandro, along with signed jerseys, an Argentina flag, and a signed poster.
Leandro later admitted he couldn't hold back his tears.
Some gifts have a price.
Others become memories for life.
