INSIDE THE FEDEXCUP: 5 THINGS EVERY GOLF FAN SHOULD KNOW
Scottie Scheffler has done it again. A final-round 66 at East Lake Golf Club took the World No. 1 to 16-under par and a three-shot victory, securing his second FedExCup title and providing another memorable finish to the PGA TOUR season.
But what exactly is the FedExCup? Here are five things every golf fan should know.
◉ IT IS A SEASON-LONG RACE
The FedExCup isn't decided in one week. Players accumulate points throughout the PGA TOUR season, with the 2026 Regular Season featuring 34 official events. Majors and THE PLAYERS offer 750 points to the winner, Signature Events 700 and regular Full-Field Events 500.
◉ ONLY 70 MAKE THE PLAYOFFS
Once the Regular Season ends, the race gets serious. The top 70 players advance to the FedEx St. Jude Championship, only 50 move on to the BMW Championship, and just 30 earn a place at the TOUR Championship. Three tournaments. Three increasingly exclusive fields.
◉ EVERYONE STARTS EAST LAKE LEVEL
One of the biggest changes in recent history arrived in 2025. The previous "Starting Strokes" system was eliminated, meaning all 30 players now begin the TOUR Championship at even par. Four rounds, 72 holes, lowest score wins and takes the FedExCup.
◉ THERE IS MUCH MORE THAN A TROPHY AT STAKE
The TOUR Championship carries a $40 million purse, with $10 million going to the champion. The FedExCup winner also receives a five-year PGA TOUR exemption, while a separate bonus pool of nearly $100 million rewards season-long performance through the BMW Championship.
◉ SCHEFFLER HAS JOINED A VERY EXCLUSIVE CLUB
The FedExCup was introduced in 2007, making 2026 its 20th edition. Scheffler is now a two-time champion, joining Tiger Woods with two titles and sitting behind only Rory McIlroy, the record-holder with three.
From a season-long race to one final Sunday in Atlanta, the FedExCup is designed to reward consistency, pressure performance and championship golf.
Congratulations Scottie!

A SUNDAY TO REMEMBER AT THE BELFRY
What a finish at the Husqvarna British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo.
Starting the final round seven shots off the lead, local Joe Dean produced a spectacular course-record-equalling 63 at The Belfry Hotel & Resort to reach 274 (-14) and claim his maiden DP World Tour title, finishing three shots clear of the chasing pack.
There was also plenty to celebrate for Portugal golf. Daniel Rodrigues closed with a 69 to finish T9 on 279 (-9), securing a hugely important Top 10 as the Race to Dubai enters its decisive stretch. Congratulations!

FROM THE BRITISH MASTERS TO PORTUGAL: THE FALDO CONNECTION
This week, the DP World Tour enters a decisive part of the season. From 27–30 August, The Belfry Hotel & Resort welcomes the Husqvarna British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo, the opening event of the Back 9 and the start of an important nine-week stretch on the Road to Dubai.
And 2026 makes the occasion even more special. This year marks 50 years since Faldo turned professional, the beginning of a career that would bring six Major Championships, including three Masters titles and three Open Championships, as well as four Ryder Cup victories as a player.
But (of course) Faldo's influence on golf extends well beyond competition.
In Portugal, his signature can already be experienced at Amendoeira Golf Resort Faldo Course, in the Algarve. Opened in 2008, the par-72 championship course brings a distinctive Mediterranean desert-style character to the Portuguese landscape, combining rocky outcrops, elevation changes and strategic decision-making throughout the round.
And another Faldo project is taking shape further west. On Madeira's spectacular Atlantic coastline, Ponta do Pargo is being developed by Faldo Design, with its opening currently expected in 2027.
From one of European golf's great tournaments to two very different Portuguese landscapes, Sir Nick Faldo continues to leave his mark on the game.

5 THINGS EVERY GOLFER SHOULD KNOW ABOUT PGA AROEIRA LISBOA
The Open de Portugal, part of the HotelPlanner Tour, is heading back to PGA Aroeira Lisboa from 17–20 September 2026. Before the professionals tee it up, here are five things worth knowing about one of Portugal's most iconic golf venues.
◉ IT'S KNOWN AS "THE WENTWORTH OF LISBON"
Designed by legendary architect Frank Pennink and inaugurated in 1973, PGA Aroeira No.1 winds through a magnificent pine forest just 30 minutes from Lisbon. Its tree-lined character quickly earned it one of Portuguese golf's most famous nicknames.
◉ THE OPEN DE PORTUGAL HAS HISTORY HERE
Aroeira No.1 hosted the Open de Portugal in 1996 and 1997. In September, the championship returns to the course for its 64th edition, almost three decades later.
◉ ACCURACY MATTERS MORE THAN POWER
This par-72 layout is all about positioning. Towering pines frame the fairways, demanding smart decisions and accurate shots from the tee. Miss the right line and your next shot can become much more complicated.
◉ A CLASSIC COURSE HAS BEEN GIVEN A NEW CHAPTER
Aroeira No.1 recently underwent extensive improvements, including renovated tees and bunkers, modernised irrigation and more sustainable landscaping. The new irrigation system can reduce water consumption by up to 20%.
◉ IT IS PORTUGAL'S ONLY PGA NATIONAL VENUE
PGA Aroeira Lisboa combines two 18-hole courses with one of the most recognised golf destinations in the Lisbon region, making it an ideal base for a golf break close to both the Portuguese capital and the Atlantic coast.
This September, the professionals will put Aroeira No.1 to the test. But you don't have to be playing the Open de Portugal to experience it.
Book your round at PGA Aroeira with Tee Times Golf Holidays and discover the "Wentworth of Lisbon" for yourself.
