🧠 Today is World Brain Day — and this year's theme couldn't be closer to what we do every day: Brain Health: Access for All.
Research is clear: regular physical activity is one of the most powerful tools we have to protect and strengthen our brain health. It improves memory, reduces cognitive decline, supports emotional wellbeing, and helps us navigate life's transitions — including menopause — with greater resilience.
But access to sport is not equal. Not everyone has the time, the money, the confidence, or the right environment to move regularly. That's exactly why Row Act exists. 🚣♀️
We believe that every woman — regardless of age, fitness level, or background — deserves access to the physical and mental benefits of sport. Our home stretching sessions, our community rowing activities, our ambassador network: all of it is built around one simple idea. That movement should come to you, not the other way around.
Because brain health is not a privilege. It's a right. And we're here to help make it accessible — one stroke at a time. 💙

Sport is about inclusion, and this is a message we are proud to share.
The Clube Fluvial Portuense recently organized the National Individual Indoor Rowing Championships for athletes with intellectual disabilities, in partnership with ANDDI.
It is a different setting from ROWACT, but it reflects the same core belief: sport should create opportunities, dignity, and participation for everyone.
Celebrating initiatives like this reminds us that rowing can be a powerful tool for inclusion, development, and community impact.

🧠 Big news from AAIC 2026, just published in The Lancet: the first major dementia-prevention study conducted in Latin America shows that a structured, coached lifestyle programme can significantly protect memory and thinking in older adults at risk of cognitive decline.
The LatAm-FINGERS study followed 1,065 people across 11 countries for two years. Those who got ongoing coaching — supervised exercise, nutrition support, cognitive training, and regular group meetings — showed 55% greater improvement in global cognition than those who only got general health advice.
The key takeaway from the researchers: structure and social support matter. Not willpower alone — a rhythm of guided activity, a coach following your progress, and a group that shows up with you.
That's exactly the model ROWACT is built on: coming to people rather than waiting for them, consistent movement, and a community that keeps each other accountable. Turns out it may be doing more for the ageing brain than any of us realised. 🚣♀️
The first major dementia-prevention study in Latin America finds that structured healthy-lifestyle programme boosts memory and thinking in at-risk older adults.
Presented at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference ( ) today, authors say the trial shows that a culturally adapted lifestyle programme can work in Latin America.

🚣💭 The poll is closed, and here's what you told us!
After our last day on the water, we asked a simple question: how much does rowing let you forget everything else? 🌊
The responses, coming mostly from our women rowers 💪👩, told us something more honest than we expected:
🔥 36% said it changes with every stroke
✨ 34% said they disappear completely from everything else
🤍 20% said they found themselves smaller than they'd like to be
And that last one? That's a result we want to listen to, not hide. 🎧
We wrote about it for EPALE (Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe) 📚 — because what happens in a boat is, in its own way, a small learning experience too.

🚣♀️ Not even the summer heat can stop us!
Our tireless ROWACT women never miss an appointment: every Saturday, one hour together on the water, sharing strokes, stories, and smiles. 💙
Last Saturday, though, we changed course 🌿 Instead of the boat and the ergometer, the star of the day was the canoe, for an adventure along the beautiful Grande Canal, in the heart of the Sicciole Salt Pans Nature Park.
Paddles in hand, we glided along the natural banks of the canal, wrapped in an almost surreal silence, broken only by the birdsong of the park and the rustle of wind through the reeds.
For many of us, a brand new experience — and certainly an unforgettable one: far from traffic and city noise, immersed in untouched nature. 🌾💧

🚣 A day that says a lot about who we are.
On July 4th, on Lake Iseo, nearly 50 people came together for "Voglia di Remare" — not a race, but a real rowing open day as part of the ROWACT project: crews mixed by experience, age, and club, designed specifically to get as many people as possible into a boat.
60% of participants were women, most of them over 40. Among them was Antonella Corazza, a former Olympic rower and founder of "The Same Boat," who rowed side by side with people getting into a boat for the very first time.

An Open Day on Lake Iseo: ROWACT in Action - Rowing and Wellness through Active Community Training
On July 4th, the rowing community gathered in Lovere, on the shores of Lake Iseo, for the third edition of "Voglia di Remare" — an open day designed simply to get as many people as possible onto the water together.
