Beautiful setting, growing fleet, and patience put to the test 🇵🇹⛵️
The 2ª PAN | 420 Class – Portuguese Qualifier #2 is underway in Oeiras, a venue that continues to showcase the best of Portuguese sailing. With its stunning coastline and technical race area, it’s the perfect stage for the country’s rising 420 talent.
A strong fleet of 26 boats highlights the steady growth of the class in Portugal, with more young sailors stepping into the pathway and raising the level of competition at every event.
Day 1 brought a slow start, as the wind took its time to build. But once it filled in, three high-quality races were completed, where consistency, focus, and small details made all the difference.
Leading the fleet after the opening day:
🥇 Bernardo Neto & Laura Pinto
🥈 Vera Cyrne & Karolina Leite
🥉 Tomás Pacheco & Manuel Rocha
Day 2, however, reminded everyone of sailing’s unpredictable nature. Despite the best efforts of the race committee, the breeze never settled, and no racing was possible.
Racing continues tomorrow.
