420 Class Vice President Dimitris Dimou appointed as a Lead Race Official for LA28 🇺🇸
World Sailing has confirmed the Lead Race Official appointments for the LA28 Olympic Sailing Competition, taking place from 14–30 July 2028 across Long Beach and the Port of Los Angeles.
Dimitris Dimou (GRE), Vice President of the International 420 Class Association, has been appointed Chair of the Technical Committee for the Port of Los Angeles venue.
In this role, Dimitris will lead a committee of International Measurers, with responsibility for ensuring that every boat competing at the venue complies with its Class-specific rules.
Dimitris is also the current Chair of World Sailing’s Equipment Rules Sub-Committee and previously served as Chair of the Technical Committee at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

🏆 MEXICO TAKES GOLD AT THE 2026 CENTRAL AMERICAN & CARIBBEAN GAMES! ⛵️🌴
The 420 Class has completed an historic championship in Santo Domingo, with six nations battling across 12 races in the Mixed Two-Person Dinghy fleet.
🇲🇽 GOLD: Mexico - Alvaro Ramirez Jassa & Sofia Baeza Calero - 17 pts
🇵🇷 SILVER: Puerto Rico - Isabel Olalla Rivera Fernandez & Diego Jose Marrero Cuevas - 23 pts
🇧🇸 BRONZE: The Bahamas - Mary Nash & Patrick Ryan Tomlinson - 24 pts
🇨🇺 Cuba finished 4th, 🇧🇧 Barbados 5th and 🇻🇨 Saint Vincent and the Grenadines 6th.
A huge congratulations to all six nations for an incredible championship and for showcasing the strength and potential of mixed double-handed sailing across the Americas and Caribbean.
The 420 continues to provide a strong pathway towards high-performance sailing and the next generation of international and Olympic sailors.

🏆 THE 420 CLASS MAKES HISTORY AT THE 2026 CENTRAL AMERICAN & CARIBBEAN GAMES! ⛵️🌴
The International 420 Class Association is proud to see the 420 represented at the 2026 Central American & Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, marking another important milestone for the class in the region.
Six nations are currently battling it out on the racecourse, showcasing the continued growth of double-handed sailing across the Americas and Caribbean. 🔥
🇲🇽 Mexico, 🇧🇸 The Bahamas, 🇵🇷 Puerto Rico, 🇨🇺 Cuba, 🇧🇧 Barbados, and 🇻🇨 Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are all in action as the fight for the medals continues.
With racing scheduled to continue through Friday, everything is still to play for!
The mixed two-person format continues to provide a strong and accessible pathway toward high-performance double-handed sailing and future Olympic ambitions across the region. 🚀
