A posição do corpo.
A amplitude.
A execução.
O estado do nosso sistema nervoso.
🇬🇧 We’ve learned to observe the body movement with a focus, mainly, on form.
Body position.
Range of motion.
Execution.
But there’s so much more happening at the same time.
The way we breathe.
The tension we carry.
Our ability to stay present.
The state of our nervous system.
All of this can influence the way we move.
Because movement doesn’t happen in isolation from the rest.
The body doesn’t function in isolated parts.
And the more we learn to understand these connections, the more possibilities we have to move in a conscious and adaptable way.
If you’re interested in having an intelligent body, stay with me. 🤍
🇬🇧 This idea is extremely important: we tend to think that if we exercise for an hour, we’ve solved the problem.
But no.
We can exercise and still lead an extremely sedentary lifestyle for the rest of the day.
So perhaps the question isn’t just “How much do I exercise?” but also “How do I spend the rest of my day?”
How do you spend the rest of your day?
🇬🇧 There are things we can do with our bodies simply because we are capable of doing them. But being able to do something doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best choice. For me, working with the body isn’t about constantly pushing it further—seeking greater range of motion, intensity, effort, or difficulty. It’s about recognizing what that body needs in the moment and choosing the right stimulus. Sometimes it’s strength. Sometimes it’s mobility.
Sometimes it’s stop pushing.
Sometimes it’s breathing.
And sometimes, it’s simply finding a different strategy. That’s why, in my classes, I’m not just looking for bodies that can do more. I’m looking for people who learn to perceive, adapt, and choose. Because an intelligent body doesn’t need to be constantly doing more. It needs to know what to do.
If you’re interested in developing that kind of relationship with your body, stay with me. 🤍
🇬🇧 Here, the author of “Primate Change” explains a very complex concept in a very simple way.
We know that spending many hours sitting isn’t ideal. But this image of the S turning into a Z helps us understand in a very concrete way what we’re doing to our bodies when we maintain this position for hours on end.
Our spine is shaped like an S because we are bipeds. That S-shape is necessary to cushion our movement.
We talk a lot about posture, the spine, and sitting… but we rarely think of this as a consequence of how we organize our entire day.
And this is what interests me more and more: the body is not separate from the habits we repeat every day.

🇬🇧
Progress can mean many things.
It’s being able to do a movement that once seemed impossible.
It’s having more control.
More strength.
More stability.
More mobility.
More confidence in your body.
It’s realizing sooner when you’re compensating—and knowing what to do about it.
It’s stopping fighting against your body and starting to work with it. Because you know it.
Yes, the body changes.
But not all changes are visible in the mirror.
And some of the most important are the ones that can be felt. ✨
🇬🇧 Before correcting someone, I prefer to understand why that body is choosing that strategy.
Because a correction can teach someone to seek the final form without necessarily understanding what they’re doing.
And for me, teaching movement isn’t just about teaching a form.
It’s about helping the person understand what they’re doing.
That’s where, for me, an intelligent body begins.
If you’re interested in having an intelligent body, stay with me. 🤍

Porque hoje parece-nos completamente natural separar:
trabalho → sentado
lazer → sentado
Tinham alguma vez pensado no exercício desta forma?
🇵🇹
Because today it seems completely natural to us to separate:
work → sitting
leisure → sitting
exercise → a time when we finally move our bodies.
But it wasn’t always this way.
And perhaps it’s interesting to realize that what we call “exercise” today is also a response to the way we’ve organized our lives.
It was one of the ideas I came across in “Primate Change” that got me thinking about this dynamic between how we organize our lives, physical activity, and exercise.
Have you ever thought about exercise this way?
🇵🇹
🇬🇧 If there’s one thing I want anyone to take away from my classes, it’s a different relationship with their own body.
Of course, I’m happy when someone is able to do a movement she couldn’t do before.
But for me, that’s not the most important thing.
I want them to leave with a better understanding of what’s happening in her body.
I want them to recognize when they’re compensating.
When they’re holding their breath.
When they need strength.
When they need to relax.
Because the better you know your body, the more able you are to respond to what it’s asking of you.
And that’s what I’m interested in building: a body that knows how to respond, adapt, and make choices.
Not just a body that can do more.
If you’re interested in having an intelligent body, stay with me. 🤍
🇬🇧 “I can’t do this.”
Before I say, “Try again,” I want to understand why.
Because it might be fear.
It might be a lack of strength.
It might be a lack of range of motion.
Or it might be that the person hasn’t yet found the right strategy for their body.
The same movement can be difficult for two people for completely different reasons.
And that’s what makes working with the body so interesting to me.
I’m not just looking for the person to be able to do the movement.
I want them to understand what’s happening and find a solution that makes sense for their body.
If you’re interested in having a intelligent body, stray with me. 🤍
