I’ve talked about this on “The Art of the Ask” podcast — I have a guy in Cape Town who holds a spot for me every year, MONTHS in advance, with no contract, deposit, or hardball negotiations. We mutually benefit from linking up (I helped improve his place AND I’m a good tenant 💅🏽plus he receives consistent, predictable income from me) and I get to live in a dope place in the exact neighborhood I want.

We can de-center platforms like this when we learn the art of reaching out to others and developing relational skills. Bc look, if the power grid does down, does your neighbor know your name? Can you ask for help or vice versa? Get to know ppl outside the DM’s!

Copenhagen swept me off my feet and I wanted to stay longer. So I just texted the person I was house sitting for if I could stay while they were still out of town. The result? YEP. Paid $0 for the extension and was even sent a list of fun things going on that weekend.

Again… JUST ASK. Use your human words to ask other humans a favor and give yourself evidence the world isn’t a complete disaster. We do have an instinct to help ppl and we can practice by asking for it and giving it!

This ask was soooo off the cuff I actually forgot I even sent it! That’s how second nature shot shooting can become. I think I could get even more specific so I’m going to send her an email with my specific, fun, creative idea that’s mutually beneficial for BOTH of us. Stay tuned!!! It’s an in-person collab idea. I use Meta mostly for this DM feature but otherwise? I’m trying to GET OFF here as much as possible.

Shooting your shot is a bid to connect! It’s how we can band together, help each other grow meaningfully and sustainably, and honestly it’s way more fkn fun than making another Carousel if I’m being totally honest 👼

Every time I believe there’s no way we could possiblyyy push AI further, it somehow happens x100.

And justtttt when I think society’s accepted influencing as a viable career path, I scroll IG and see that’s very much *not* the case.

Copenhagen is the European Pinterest utopia people from the U.S. dream about.

70% of the population rides bikes to work. You can leave babies outside in strollers while you go to Pilates because it’s so safe. I can lay in the park in a swimsuit and go for a dip in the canal, not worried my phone will get stolen. I can take a nap and my heart rate goes down, knowing it’s unlikely I’ll be assaulted or jumped. I’m calm in Copenhagen.

Time stretches. The days are long — partially because of how I’m experiencing the city and also bc it’s Scandinavia and the sun sets later.

My AncestryDNA says I’m 33% Scandinavian. It’s the most dominant territory in my chart. Maybe this is the motherland. I’m tall. 5’9”. Viking genes? Who knows.

I’m half Puerto Rican, but don’t speak Spanish. There’s a curse to being half Latina. Especially when you grow up in white neighborhoods. Especially when you’re not fluent. Especially when Puerto Ricans finally have their turn in the limelight and you celebrate but feel fraudulent because you don’t speak the language. Even when your mom does. Even when your mom was born and raised on the island. People want to see how Latina you *really* are. Does she have an accent? Was she for real born there? How long did she live there? Oh wow! She DOES have really tan skin! Her accent is thick! Why do you have such light eyes and hair?! Crazy!

Copenhagen is also on my Venus line. Lima was too. People said I had a glow-up in Lima. It was the same in CDMX. They say it every time I’m in Spain. It was clear CPH gave me life. What does glowing really mean? Is a glow up just smiling more? Genuine laughter? When we’re not glowing up, what’s happening?

Copenhagen reminds me how it all FEELS is more important than how it looks. But it looks good too. So good. It looks good and feels good. That’s how I want experience everything as much as possible. Well, maybe not. Because I like Berlin and Athens for the grunge.

I hope one day everyone can visit Copenhagen during Cancer season. (Oh, and cat-sit if you can, you’ll save hundreds on accommodation).
