Summer League Finale

Well, that’s the end of the Summer League, and what a great effort from both of the Floresta teams!

A good morning of bowls at Alvor was followed by an excellent lunch provided by Alvor Bowls. Many thanks to them for their hospitality.

Pedras Crocs 6-4 Floresta Foxes
Valverde Vulcan 6-4 Floresta Falcons

So close, but not quite close enough. The Alvor Rhinos secured the trophy by beating Valverde Vikings 2-8.

There are no more league games now until October when the Winter League starts. I’m sure Floresta will once again be fielding two very strong teams and challenging at the top.

In the meantime, enjoy your summer breaks. Roll-ups will continue on the usual days, so hopefully we can all keep our practice up and be ready for another crack at the league when it returns.

Well done to everyone who competed in the Summer League and represented Floresta so well throughout the season.

Summer League Update

Another week at Pedras for the penultimate game of the Summer League.

Both Floresta teams performed well, with the Falcons earning an excellent 5–5 draw on points against Alvor’s top team. The Foxes put in a strong performance, beating Alvor Zebras 10–0 and moving to the top of the table.

Now it’s on to the final game of the Summer League, which will be played at Alvor. Going into the last round of fixtures, the Foxes sit top of the league, with the Falcons in second place and the Alvor Rhinos close behind in third. With so little separating the teams, everything is still to play for and an exciting finale awaits.

To cap it all off, Alvor are putting on what looks to be an excellent lunch. If any club members would like to come along, support the Floresta teams and join us for lunch, you would be most welcome. The players would certainly appreciate the support.

Another great day for Floresta in the Summer League, with both teams travelling to Pedras and coming away with excellent results.

The Foxes 🦊 recorded a convincing 9–1 victory over the Valverde Vikings, with some exciting and closely contested ends throughout the match.

The Falcons also produced a superb performance against the Alvor Zebras, winning 8-2 and moving to the top of the Summer League table.

Next week sees both teams return to Pedras for the penultimate round of fixtures. The Foxes take on the Alvor Zebras, while the Falcons face a crucial clash against the second-placed Alvor Rhinos.

With the league entering its final stages, there’s still everything to play for. Good luck to both teams! 🍀🏆

Summer League Update

Last week’s Summer League matches were played in glorious sunshine, although the windy conditions provided an extra challenge for all teams.

The Floresta Foxes faced the league leaders, the Alvor Rhinos 🦏, and despite a strong performance came out on the wrong side of a 29–47 scoreline. Nevertheless, it was a very respectable result against the team currently sitting at the top of the table.

The Floresta Falcons took on a strong Valverde Vikings side and, although they were defeated 26–42, produced a competitive display that keeps them firmly in the hunt near the top of the league standings.

Today, both teams were in action at Pedras. We will post the results and updated league tables as soon as they are available.

Ever fancied trying a relaxing game of lawn bowls?

At Floresta Bowls Club, based just outside Praia da Luz and Lagos, we have excellent facilities and a very welcoming club atmosphere. We play bowls both socially and competitively in the Bowls Algarve League.

We are currently welcoming new players, so if you’ve never played lawn bowls before and would like to give it a try, we hold friendly roll-ups on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. We are always happy to help complete beginners with tuition, experienced bowlers are very welcome too.

Why not come along and give it a go? Enjoy a gentle game of bowls in the sunshine and make the most of the social side of the club.

We supply all the equipment needed — all you need are flat shoes with no heels.

A great third week of the Algarve Summer League season, with Floresta once again hosting all the teams on the carpet at Aldeia Azul.

Both the Foxes 🦊 and Falcons were in top form, securing excellent wins to continue a fantastic start to the season.

The Foxes kicked off the morning against the Valverde Vulcans and came away with a strong 64–22 victory.

The Falcons then followed up with an impressive performance against the Pedras Gators, winning convincingly 67-19

A cracking day was had by all in the glorious Algarve sunshine ☀️. This week we head to the grass at Valverde, and hopefully we can keep this great run going.
