"This moment presents a clear test of whether Congress can translate long-standing bipartisan agreement into meaningful action. We support the Take Care of America’s Veterans Act so the process can continue and so Congress can deliver lasting results for veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors."

Today, The American Legion and 21 other veterans service organizations sent a coalition letter to the top leadership of the House and Senate Committees on Veterans’ Affairs, calling for Congress to pass the Take Care of America’s Veterans Act.

The American Legion has launched a dedicated resource site for the Take Care of America's Veterans Act (TCAVA) to help veterans, members, and the public better understand our official position, our support for the legislation, and the potential outcomes if the act passes or fails.

We encourage you to read our position, explore the myths and facts, and learn why this issue matters to the veteran community at legion.org/advocacy/legislative/take-care-of-americas-veterans-act

"The VA has proposed a rule which estimates say will result in somewhere between $19 billion and $58 billion being diverted from veteran benefits to the U.S. Treasury.

The American Legion has objected to this rule change. Despite our best efforts, the VA has not withdrawn this proposed rule.

That means if we don’t act, billions of dollars will go from supporting veterans to funding other causes."

Commander Wiley pens a poignant letter on the Take Care of America's Veterans Act (TCAVA) and what's at stake. We encourage all to read his message at the link below, and explore our special resource page dedicated to TCAVA at legion.org/advocacy/legislative/take-care-of-americas-veterans-act
