SAOC REVIEWS PREPARATIONS FOR 14TH SOUTH ASIAN GAMES 2027
Islamabad, 23 August 2026: The Executive Committee of the South Asia Olympic Council (SAOC), chaired by Mr. Arif Saeed, President SAOC and Pakistan Olympic Association, reviewed preparations for the 14th South Asian Games, to be held from 3rd to 11th April 2027 in Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar.
Representatives from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka attended the meeting in person, while India participated virtually via Zoom.
The Games will feature 28 sports, 346 medal events and approximately 3,200 athletes across three host cities and 28 competition venues.
The SAOC representatives were briefed on the readiness of venues in Lahore and Peshawar, while the delegation will visit competition venues in Islamabad tomorrow as part of the ongoing assessment.
Key operational areas including accommodation, transportation, Games handbooks and manuals, pre launch activities and the 100 Days to Go milestone were also reviewed.
Pakistan continues to make steady progress towards hosting a successful 14th South Asian Games and welcoming athletes and officials from across the region.
