YOUTH ANS STRESS
For today's youth, stress isn’t just an occasional hurdle—it is a defining feature of daily life. Navigating the transition into adulthood has always been challenging, but modern youth face a unique pressure cooker of academic, social, and digital demands.
The primary catalyst is often intense academic anxiety. In an increasingly competitive global economy, young people feel immense pressure to achieve perfect grades, secure prestigious internships, and map out their entire careers before they even graduate. This achievement culture leaves little room for failure or rest.
Compounding this is the omnipresence of social media. While it connects them, it also exposes youth to a non-stop loop of curated perfection, fueling deep insecurities, the "fear of missing out" (FOMO), and cyberbullying. The boundary between school life and home life has blurred, leaving no safe haven from social scrutiny.
When chronic stress goes unmanaged, it manifests physically as burnout and sleep deprivation, and mentally as rising rates of anxiety and depression. To support the younger generation, society must shift its focus from celebrating constant productivity to prioritizing emotional resilience. Teaching coping mechanisms, providing accessible mental health resources, and redefining success beyond mere metrics are essential steps to help youth thrive rather than just survive.
