Some Passions Never Fade. They Simply Wait.

There are passions that time can never erase.

You can step away from them. Life may lead you down different paths. You may discover new interests along the way. But if something is truly part of who you are, it will always find a way to call you back.

For Caleb Chua, that calling was racing.

Caleb is one of DMS’ homegrown talents. Since 2022, he has been sharpening his skills inside Drift Motor Speedway, battling wheel-to-wheel with Yuan and Yash long before any of them became nationally recognized racers. Those countless indoor battles, victories, defeats, and lessons quietly laid the foundation for the racer he is today.

He would also become DMS’ very first Ultimate Driver! A milestone earned through discipline, consistency, and a relentless pursuit of improvement.

Then life took him elsewhere.

For nearly three years, Caleb stepped away from karting to pursue other sports/hobbies. But deep inside, the passion for racing never disappeared. It simply waited for the right time to return.

When Caleb made the decision to race again at the 𝑻4 𝑺𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝑷𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒔, another chapter began.

The same Yuan Bugayong whom he once raced against in DMS’ indoor championships was now standing on the other side of the pit wall, as his coach. Having shared countless laps together over the years, Yuan understood Caleb’s driving style, his strengths, and where he could still improve. Together, they worked on translating Caleb’s years of indoor racecraft into the faster, more demanding world of outdoor racing.

Round 4 immediately tested Caleb’s resolve.

After qualifying only P7, Heat 1 became a race of survival. Caught in several racing incidents, Caleb dropped as low as P11. Many drivers would have accepted the outcome.

Caleb refused to.

He kept fighting until the very end, recovering valuable positions to finish P8.

In Heat 2, the momentum shifted. Starting from P7 once again, he carved his way through the field to finish P5, proving that his speed was steadily returning.

Then came the final.

If there was ever a moment that defined Caleb’s fighting spirit, this was it.

Starting from P7, he wasted no time making his move. By the end of the opening lap alone, he had gained four positions to climb into P3, stunning everyone with one of the strongest opening laps of the weekend. Although the race eventually settled into a P5 finish, Caleb had already shown that he belonged at the front.

Then Sunday arrived.

Everything seemed to come together.

Caleb delivered a brilliant lap in qualifying to secure pole position, becoming the fastest driver in the Senior Intermediate field.

It was more than just a pole! It was proof that despite spending nearly three years away from karting, the speed had never truly left him.

Heat 1 looked destined to end on another podium after Caleb crossed the finish line in P3. But motorsport has a way of testing even the strongest performances. A five-second penalty for exceeding track limits while battling through the chicane dropped him to P7.

Many drivers would have allowed that disappointment to linger.

Caleb used it as fuel.

In Heat 2, he responded the best way possible… by taking a brilliant P1 finish!

The final, however, would become the defining race of his entire weekend.

Starting from P4, disaster struck almost immediately. By the end of Lap 1, Caleb had fallen all the way to P8 in a fiercely contested field.

For many, that would have been the end of the story.

For Caleb, it became the beginning of one.

Lap after lap, he stayed patient. He fought back one position at a time, making calculated overtakes until he climbed back to P5 by the checkered flag, securing another 4th Runner-Up finish.

One race weekends.

Two rounds.

Two fourth runner-up finishes!

Some may only see the final results.

We see something much bigger.

We saw a driver rediscover his confidence.

We saw years of indoor training proving their value on one of the country’s toughest outdoor grids.

We saw the determination to keep fighting, regardless of setbacks.

And we saw a homegrown DMS driver reminding everyone that true talent never disappears. Sometimes, it simply needs the opportunity to come back to life.

Welcome back, Caleb.

This isn’t the end of your comeback story.

It feels like the beginning of something much bigger!

Every racer has two choices after a difficult race: let frustration take over, or turn it into fuel for improvement!

For Sandro Carlota, he chose the latter.

Round 4 wasn’t the weekend he had envisioned. He was pushing hard behind the wheel, searching for the perfect setup and trying to unlock the speed he knew he had. Sometimes, however, that determination can turn into being just a little too eager.

An unfortunate incident at the final corner of the Carmona Racetrack even saw his kart launched on top of another competitor’s kart. It was a race to forget, and he eventually crossed the line in P11.

But that’s the beauty of racing.

Every setback carries a lesson, and every lesson becomes an opportunity.

Round 5 told a completely different story.

Together with the team, Sandro finally found a setup that suited his driving style. More importantly, he found his rhythm. The speed was there. The confidence was back.

He proved it by running at the front of the field all day and earning a front-row start for the finals in P2.

Against some of the country’s best Senior Intermediate drivers, Sandro fought with determination from lights to flag. While he eventually finished P8, the result doesn’t fully reflect the progress we witnessed.

Sometimes, the biggest victory isn’t found on the podium, it’s discovering that you have the pace to fight at the front.

This is only the beginning, Sandro. The speed is there. Now it’s time to turn that speed into consistent results.
