CLOSING ANNOUNCEMENT

After years of bringing together cyclists through the Santa Veronica Criterium Race, with a grateful heart, we announce the 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘂𝗺 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

This decision comes following the directive of the 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, which has determined that the existing race route is no longer considered a safe environment for cyclists. The increasing 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀 has also raised significant safety concerns for our participants and the general public.

While this is a difficult decision, we fully respect and support the authorities’ concern for the 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀, 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰. No event is more important than the safety of everyone involved.

However, this is 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆.

We are pleased to announce that we will be 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, where we can provide a safer and more suitable environment for cyclists and race participants.

The details regarding the 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲-𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲𝗱/𝘂𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲. We ask everyone to stay tuned for further announcements.

The Santa Veronica Criterium Race may be closing at this location, but our passion for cycling continues.
