🏀 SIR KARL'S BASKETBALL LEAGUE

The SKBL Playoff Format is designed to reward strong regular-season performance while giving every qualified team a fair opportunity to compete for the championship.

1. QUARTERFINALS — CROSS-BRACKET & TWICE-TO-BEAT ADVANTAGE

The Quarterfinals will use a CROSS-BRACKET FORMAT, meaning teams from Bracket A will face teams from Bracket B.

The #1 and #2 seeded teams in each division will receive a TWICE-TO-BEAT ADVANTAGE.

Bracket A
#1 Bracket A vs. #4 Bracket B — Twice-to-Beat Advantage for #1 Bracket A
#2 Bracket A vs. #3 Bracket B — Twice-to-Beat Advantage for #2 Bracket A

Bracket B
#1 Bracket B vs. #4 Bracket A — Twice-to-Beat Advantage for #1 Bracket B
#2 Bracket B vs. #3 Bracket A — Twice-to-Beat Advantage for #2 Bracket B

TWICE-TO-BEAT RULE
The #1 and #2 seeds only need to win once to advance.
If the #1 or #2 seed wins the first game, they advance immediately.
If the #1 or #2 seed loses the first game, a second game will be played.
The lower-seeded team must win twice to eliminate a #1 or #2 seed.
The winners of the Quarterfinals advance to the Semifinals.

2. CROSS-BRACKET ADVANCEMENT

The Cross-Bracket system is intended to create competitive matchups between the two brackets. Bracket A teams will cross over to face Bracket B teams, and Bracket B teams will cross over to face Bracket A teams.

3. SEMIFINALS — ONE GAME

The Semifinals will be decided by ONE GAME ONLY.

Quarterfinal winners advance to the Semifinals.
Each Semifinal is a single-elimination game.
Winner advances to the Finals.
Loser is eliminated.

4. FINALS — ONE GAME

The SKBL Championship Finals will be decided by ONE GAME ONLY.

The two Semifinal winners will face each other.
The winner will be crowned the SKBL Division Champion.
The loser will finish as Runner-Up.

5. DIVISIONS

These playoff rules apply to both:

🏀 SKBL 14U DIVISION
🏀 SKBL 16U DIVISION

Each division will have its own Bracket A and Bracket B, its own playoff bracket, and its own champion.

6. CHAMPIONSHIP

At the conclusion of the Finals, SKBL will crown:

🏆 THE FIRST-EVER SKBL 14U CHAMPION
🏆 THE FIRST-EVER SKBL 16U CHAMPION

Only one team in each division will make history as the FIRST SKBL CHAMPION in their respective age category.
