MAINIT ANG ISYU ngayon sa termination ng Sotto-Enrile Accord (1981) at UP-DND Accord (1989). Mga kasunduan eto na kung saan ipinagbawal ang pagpasok ng pulis at militar sa mga U.P. campuses. Pinirmahan eto between Sonia P. Sotto ng League of Filipino Students (LFS) at Defense Minister Juan Ponce Enrile ng Department of National Defense (DND) and the rest is history...
Hindi naman masama ang maging aktibista; aktibista rin ako-- joining rallies and protests when i was a U.P. student --but i did not do the extremes, like my U.P. varsity track teammate , and my Yakal dormmate did; hindi pa rin sila nahahanap hanggang ngayon.😢 (p**i Google na lang names nila for info).
Ang tanong, ano bang mga issues ang inaaktibistahan mo o ipinaglalaban mo? Makakatulong ba o makakasira sa bansa at lipunang ating ginagalawan? Kung law-abiding citizen ka naman, there's nothing to fear; just do what you must do.👊😃

On June 18, 1908, a hundred and twelve years ago, the University of the Philippines was founded through Act No. 1870 of the Philippine Assembly to fill the need to meet the increasing demands for instruction in the higher levels of learning and provide professional studies in medicine, law, engineering or applied sciences.
UP was to give “advanced instruction in literature, philosophy, the sciences and arts, and to give professional and technical training” to every qualified student regardless of “age, s*x, nationality, religious belief and political affiliation.” According to UP’s Bulletin No. 1, the University was seen as “the logical outgrowth and culmination of efforts made during the past ten years to establish a complete system of education for the Philippine islands.”
Through the past hundred years, the University of the Philippines has evolved from the pinnacle of the American-established educational system in the country, to a “University for the Filipino” as envisioned by its first President, Murray Simpson Bartlett.
