Today, we celebrate 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆, a time to remember and honor the brave Filipinos who dedicated their 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨, 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙖𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙮.

Ngayong ika-21 ng Agosto, ginugunita natin 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗸𝗮-𝟰𝟯 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗼 𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘄 𝗻𝗶 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗿 𝘽𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙜𝙣𝙤 "𝙉𝙞𝙣𝙤𝙮" 𝘼𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙣𝙤 𝙅𝙧.—isang araw ng pag-alala sa tapang ng isang taong piniling manindigan para sa kalayaan at demokrasya.

Noong 𝗔𝗴𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗼 𝟮𝟭, 𝟭𝟵𝟴𝟯, ang pagpaslang kay Ninoy sa dating Manila International Airport ay naging isa sa mga mahalagang yugto ng ating kasaysayan. Lalo nitong pinatindi ang panawagan para sa pagbabago at naging bahagi ng mas malawak na kilusang nagtulak tungo sa 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗻𝗼𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝟭𝟵𝟴𝟲. Ngunit ang paggunita kay Ninoy ay hindi lamang pagbabalik-tanaw sa nakaraan. Isa itong paalala sa ating lahat, lalo na sa kabataang Pilipino—na ang 𝙠𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙮 𝙢𝙖𝙮 𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙜𝙖, 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙠𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙩𝙤𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙮 𝙣𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙜𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙣, 𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙠𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙮𝙖 𝙖𝙮 𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙞 𝙙𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙩 𝙗𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙖 𝙞𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙠𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙬𝙖𝙡𝙖 𝙨𝙖 𝙞𝙗𝙖. Sa araw na ito, alalahanin natin ang legasiyang iniwan ng isang Pilipinong nagpasiyang bumalik sa sariling bayan sa kabila ng panganib, dahil naniniwala siyang ang kinabukasan ng Pilipinas ay karapat-dapat ipaglaban.
