Official statement of the UAAP

"The University Athletic Association of the Philippines extends its deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, teammates, and loved ones of Divine Adili and Rene Baterbonia of Ateneo de Manila University.

We join the entire Ateneo community in mourning this profound loss. Words cannot capture the sorrow felt by all who knew them and those who are yet to witness their greatness in the playing field.

As we remember divine and rene, we honor their lives, their contributions to their sport, the lasting impact they leave on those whose lives they touched, within and beyond the field of competition.

During this difficult time, we respectfully ask everyone to honor the privacy of the grieving families and to extend compassion, and understanding to all those affected by this tragedy.

May Divine and Rene be remembered with honor, and may their families and loved ones find strength and comfort in this time of sorrow."
