βIβd like to thank all the Filipino football players and remind you to thank your parents and guardians too. Dahil po sa suporta nila kaya tayo naglalaro ngayon. It inspires us more actually to keep going and playing. Philippines, we made it! World Cup na po tayo. We are part of this historic feat, and I am proud to be a Filipino.β

=The first Philippine team as member of FIFA=
The Philippine Amateur Football Association or PAFA (now known as the PFF) the national association for footbal in the Philippines, have joined the FIFA (the world-governing body for football) in June 6, 1928. The Philippines established its status as an official member of the sport's global football community, becoming FIFA's 47th member association. This makes the 1930 national football team as the first team formed by PAFA as a FIFA member association.
By the late 1920s, the local club footballing scene have been dominated for the most part by collegiate teams like San Beda, La Salle, Ateneo and UST. By then the old local powerhouse clubs like Bohemians have already been dethroned. This explains why the 1930 Philippine football team were mainly composed of collegiate stars like the Ugarte brothers (Sebastian and Emilio) of La Salle, Celestino Martinez of Ateneo, keeper Santos Bacsal of San Beda, Emilio "Lolo" Pacheco of UST among others. Lolo Pacheco, the father of post-war Filipino football legend Eddie Pacheco, scored two goals against Japan, which were the only goals for the country during that tournament.
The Philippine team just manage to finish third place during that year's football tournament and was overcome by Japan for the second time.
=The introduction of football in Barotac Nuevo by the Monfort brothers=
Roque Sustiguer Monfort along with his brother Pascual, both students at private school Colegio de San Agustin in Iloilo, were first introduced to football by the Spanish friars. The Monfort brothers were later be credited in introducing football back to their hometown in Barotac Nuevo. Both would later be part of the Philippine National Football Team in 1921, with Roque still part of the national team in 1930.
Soon, the passion for football have caught on the Barotacnons, and the town was later dubbed as the football capital of the Philippines with the best homegrown footballers usually born and raised from the town and a product of the old local football program.
