On the second day of the SEAFF Junior Fencing Championships, capping off individual play at the tournament is Men’s Sabre.

Matthew Luis General won once in pool play and just missed the cut-off to enter the knockout rounds.

Drake Anthony Chung won twice in pool play to advance into the knockout rounds, losing in R1, 15-7.

Khiane Felipe won thrice in pool play to advance into the knockout rounds, where he won his opening round matchup, 15-10, before exiting in the second round with a narrow 15-14 defeat.

Vito Misael Coching won four times in pool play, earning a R1 bye in the process. He won his R2 match, 15-10, before losing in the QFs, 15-11.

Second day of the SEAFF Junior Championships saw…

All seven Pinays advance into the knockout rounds of the Women’s Foil discipline.

Two wins in pool play for Yuna Samuelle Canlas, Victoria Paula Malvar, and Hagia Sophia del Castillo.

Canlas would win her first round matchup, 15-6, before losing out to her UE Fencing Team compatriot Willa Liana Galvez, 15-14.

Malvar would drop her R1 assignment, 15-8.

Del Castillo dispatched her R1 opponent, 15-8, before taking care of her CF Fencing Club x CANLASFencing x Canlas Fencing teammate Jodie Danielle Tan by the same score. She just missed out on a medal with her 15-10 defeat in the QFs.

Victoria Ebdane managed three wins in pool play, winning her R1 matchup, 15-6, before exiting in R2.

Tan and Jada Divinagracia both won four times in pool play. The former was coming off a R1 bye before losing to del Castillo. The latter won her R2 match, 15-8 before losing in the QFs, 15-9.

Galvez topped pool play with her five victories, to earn a R1 bye. After that escape against Canlas, she did the same exact thing in the QFs, before losing in the semis, 15-8.

In the second day of the SEAFF Junior Championships.

The quartet of Joaquin Pablo de Silos, Oscar Gabriel del Castillo, Don Reyzel Geronimo, and Matt Jacob Mayo all survived pool play and advanced into the knockout rounds.

Geronimo managed a couple of wins, then escaped a narrow 15-14 win in R1, setting up a matchup against del Castillo in R2, losing, 15-8.

De Silos won thrice, earning a bye in the process, but lost in R2, 10-7.

Mayo won four times, also earning a bye. The Republic Fencing whiz kid won R2, 15-5, before losing in R3, 15-9.

Del Castillo won all five of his pool play matches, one of four to accomplish it in this division. After the bye and dispatching Geronimo (for the third time as of late… 🤔), he would snap up 15-8 and 15-3 wins before securing a finals berth with a narrow 15-14 triumph. A 15-11 defeat in the final ensured a silver medal for the Canlas Fencing x CANLASFencing x CF Fencing Club epee ace.

Men’s Foil

Inigo Divinagracia was eliminated after not being able to secure a win in pool play.

One win from Lucas Palafox was enough to get him into the knockout rounds, where managed to win in R1, 15-10 before losing in R2, 15-5.

Octaveus Leeroi Chan and Elijah Timbol each snapped up a couple of wins in pool play to earn knockout round berths. The former won his R1 match, 15-6 before exiting in R2, 15-4. The latter managed to earn a R1 bye before being nipped in R2, 15-14.

Marcus Manuel won all five of his pool play matches to earn a R1 bye, but was nipped in R2, 15-14.

Women’s Epee

All four Pinays managed to advance into the knockout rounds, each racking up four wins in pool play.

Faith Olemos and Papina Marguerite Torre were matched up in R1, with the former winning, 15-14. Olemos would fall in the next round, 15-6.

Also suffering R1 exits are Eleina Marguerite Junia & Ivana Salvador with their 13-12 & 15-14 defeats, respectively.

Women’s Sabre

Hailey Sophia Peters just missed out on the knockout rounds with just a win in pool play.

Three wins each for Arianna Victoria Tiu, Ma. Estelliah Gillana, and Nadelle Turiano to make it into the knockout rounds, and even netted R1 byes.

The latter two were matched up in R2, with Gillana winning, 15-8. The UST Fencing Team and Estudio de Espada Fencing Club standout lost in the QFs, 15-9.

Tiu won her R2 match, 15-6, before losing in the QFs by the same score.
