This!
Manila is choking on its own โ and the crisis is hitting both sea and air simultaneously.
PortCalls takes a deep-dive into the cargo gripping the country's most critical trade gateways: the Manila international container terminals and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The report, in three parts, examines how a perfect storm of full depots, an overstretched truck fleet, slow container withdrawal, an inadequate warehouse ecosystem at NAIA, and a Bureau of Customs PH clearance system โ the e2M โ that is widely considered slow and past its prime, is pushing Philippine supply chains to the breaking point. At least one global technology company has already suspended production of one of its lines. Industry leaders warn others could follow.
Part 1 of our special report investigates the seaport crisis โ what's happening at the Manila International Container Terminal and Manila South Harbor, who's pointing fingers at whom, and what the BOC has ordered to break the logjam.
