A Fiery Opener For ChiNoy Ballers League

PCCAAI Golden Seagulls started the season with a bang, dominating Goddess x KSK Uno High School

The Golden Seagulls got off to a slow start, falling behind Uno early in the opening quarter. Uno steadily built its lead through relentless hustle and suffocating defense, with Grant Sy dominating inside the paint while Austin Ramos caught fire from beyond the arc. Despite the pressure, John Shi and Francis Qiu kept the Golden Seagulls within striking distance, helping cut the deficit to 11 points as the first quarter came to a close.

PCC opened the second quarter with an and-one play that sparked the Golden Seagull comeback. Jharles Uy quickly caught fire, knocking down two straight three pointers to erase the deficit and energize his team. The momentum completely shifted as the Golden Seagulls took their first lead of the game with just over three minutes remaining. Uno responded by bringing in its reinforcements to regain control, setting up an intense back-and-forth battle. However, Uy had the final say, draining his third three pointer of the quarter to give the Golden Seagulls a 40-36 lead heading into halftime.

Uno began to cool down while PCC continued to find its rhythm. The Golden Seagulls took control by doing what they do best, forcing turnovers and converting stolen possessions into easy baskets. Kyle Tan tried to keep the Blue Pandas afloat with timely perimeter shots, but it was not enough to stop PCC from piling on the points. Uno brought in its senior players to stabilize the team, but the Golden Seagulls remained in complete control and ended the third quarter with a commanding 20-point lead.

Despite trailing by a wide margin, Uno continued to fight until the final buzzer, trimming the deficit to 10 points for a while behind the strong connection between Austin Ramos and Grant Sy. However, the Golden Seagulls never lost control, matching every run with relentless energy and timely baskets to secure an impressive 89-73 victory. Jharles Uy led the Golden Seagulls with 23 points and 9 rebounds, while Joshua Cabiltes made his impact felt beyond the stat sheet. Although he finished with 16 points, his timely baskets came at crucial moments, swinging the momentum to the Golden Seagulls’ favor during its comeback. Kyle Tung also provided an all-around performance with 15 points and six steals. For Uno, Austin Ramos finished with a game-high 28 points, while Grant Sy added 23 points in a valiant effort.

4th FFCAAI Cup Badminton Tournament Marks a Successful Event for The Federation of Filipino Chinese Alumni Associations Inc. (FFCAAI), co-hosted by the Philippine Cultural College Alumni Association Inc. (PCCAAI)

The 4th FFCAAI Cup Badminton Tournament was held on May 31, 2026, at Perfect Smash Badminton Court in Grace Park East, Caloocan City. The event was hosted by the Philippine Cultural College Alumni Association, Inc. under the Federation of Filipino Chinese Alumni Associations, Inc. and gathered alumni, students, and badminton players from the Filipino-Chinese community.

The tournament became a meaningful and energetic sports event that promoted friendship, teamwork, and sportsmanship among its participants. More than 160 players from Philippine Cultural College, Xavier School, St. Stephen’s High School, St. Peter the Apostle School, St. Jude Catholic School, St. John’s Institute, Philippine Academy of Sakya, Pangasinan Universal Institute, Northern Rizal Yorklin School, Makati Hope Christian School, MGC New Life Christian Academy, Light Christian Academy, Jubilee Christian Academy, Immaculate Conception Academy, Huasiong College of Iloilo, Hope Christian High School, Grace Christian College, and Chiang Kai Shek College joined and participated in the Students 19 and under mixed category, 45 and below Men’s, Ladies, and Mixed Levels A, B, and C, and the 46 and above non-gender categories.

Aside from the exciting games, the event also strengthened the connection among alumni associations. It served as an opportunity for members of the Filipino-Chinese community to come together, support one another, and celebrate unity through sports. The successful turnout reflected the strong cooperation between the PCC Alumni Association, FFCAAI, organizers, volunteers, players, and supporters. Winners of the tournament were awarded cash prizes and medals, recognizing their hard work and outstanding performance throughout the competition. A series of raffle prizes were also drawn at intervals throughout the duration of the tournament.

Overall, the 4th FFCAAI Cup Badminton Tournament was a successful and memorable event for both the Philippine Cultural College Alumni Association Inc. and The Federation of Filipino Chinese Alumni Associations Inc.. More than just a competition, it became a celebration of camaraderie, community spirit, and the continuing bond among Filipino-Chinese.
