Alex Eala’s remarkable run at the National Bank Open in Toronto may have ended in the Round of 16, but her incredible stretch over the past two weeks has already made history. Fresh from becoming the first Filipino to win a WTA Tour singles title, she also rose to a career-high World No. 20, firmly establishing herself among the world’s elite.

More than the trophies and rankings, Alex has given millions of Filipinos something even greater—a reason to believe that we can compete, and win, on the biggest stage.

| GENSAN GYMNASTICS DUO WINS ASIAN BRONZE 🇵🇭🥉

General Santos City has another reason to celebrate.

Young gymnasts Rhys Enoch Basmayor and John Mikhaela G. Ladaran captured the bronze medal in the Youth Mixed Pair event of the 10th Aerobic Gymnastics Asian Championships in Tagaytay City, proudly representing the Philippines against Asia's best young athletes.

Team Philippines also delivered an impressive performance by winning both the gold and bronze medals in the Youth Mixed Pair competition, underscoring the country's strong showing on the continental stage.

Rhys is a Grade 6-Robles learner of Region XII DepEd GenSan SPED is QA School – Quezon Avenue Campus, while John Mikhaela is a Grade 8 student of DepEd RXII General Santos City NHS and an alumna of General Santos City SPED Integrated School.

The pair trains under Coach Carl Joshua Paladan Tangonan of PAMA Arte de Danza Gensan Aerobic Gymnastics Team. They also represented the Philippines as members of the Youth Aero Dance team, which likewise earned a bronze medal during the championships.

Congratulations to Rhys, John Mikhaela, Coach Carl Joshua Paladan Tangonan, PAMA Arte de Danza Gensan, their families, schools, and the entire Philippine delegation on this outstanding achievement. General Santos City’s 14-year-old badminton athlete Raphaelle Dinara “Orange” Aguinea won silver in the Under-17 Mixed Doubles division of the 13th World Chinese Youth Badminton Championship 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Aguinea teamed up with Malaysian player Hanz Yaw and reached the championship round before settling for silver against a Taiwanese pair.

Her 11-year-old brother, Remiel Alessandri Aguinea, also competed in the tournament and reached the main draw quarterfinals in both boys’ singles and boys’ doubles.
