Digos Trekkers hailed new secondary boys’ takraw champions

TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte- The Digos City Trekkers dethroned the long-reigning Davao Durians, seizing the secondary boys’ sepak takraw championship in a heart-stopping three-regu showdown during the 2026 Davao Regional Athletic Association (DavRAA) Meet.

Digos dropped the first regu, 11-15, 10-15, as Mark Dave Berdos, Owen Oñate, and Kent Laurence Jose battled hard but yielded to the Durians’ sharp service aces and steady net defense.

The Trekkers bounced back in the second regu behind Achilles Jave Batulanon, Jude Santino Rabadon, and Jaylord Jose, posting a 15-8, 17-16 win, surviving a tight second set and swing the momentum in Digos’ favor.

In the deciding third regu, James Albert Tribjao, Ian Miguel Guiroy, and Gilbert Llemit delivered a dominant 15-13, 15-5 finish, showcasing composure and relentless attacks sealing the comeback victory and securing the crown.

“Lipay jud kaayo mi kay ang simpleng pangarap natuman na jud. Ang kanunay nga underdog nga team naka-survive na jud. Dako kaayo ni nga blessing nga gihatag sa amo pinaagi sa among mga pag-ampo,” said coach R-john C. Alag.

Alag added that they will continue their constant training to further improve in preparation for the Palaro, expressing hope that they can secure a gold medal in the highly sought-after meet.
