Some stories quietly build momentum until one season brings them into the spotlight. For 17-year-old Grade 12 student-athlete Loreto III G. Alredo from Mintal Comprehensive Stand-Alone Senior High School, Mintal, Tugbok, Davao City, that moment came at the Davao City Athletic Association (DCAA) Volleyball Meet.
From a young boy already competing in city volleyball tournaments at age 11, Loretoโs dedication has carried him from small beginnings to standing out on a citywide stage.
At the DCAA Volleyball Meet (Boys โ Secondary), Loretoโs performance captured attention. He was recognized as a Two-time Player of the Game and also awarded Most Impressive Player โ Volleyball Boys (Secondary), clear proof that his hard work and discipline are paying off.
Loreto was chosen as a pick-up standout to join the lineup of Biao National High School (BNHS), representing Unit 3. As the only MCSASHS player on the team, he adapted quickly, pushed himself in every match, and helped BNHS secure the silver medal at the DCAA Meet 2025 โa shared victory for both the school and the unit he represented.
Behind his success is a circle of support that keeps him motivated. As Loreto shared, โNaga-motivate nako, maโam, especially akong parents, ug akoang coaches nga sila Maโam Armee and Maโam Jeju, ug ang tibook teachers sa MCSASHS. Grabe kaayo sila ka-supportive nako. Sila jud ang akong motivation sulod sa court sa matag dula namo.โ
One memorable moment during the DCAA Meet showed the care of his mentors. Noticing that Loretoโs shoes were worn out and slippery, his coach in MCSASHS, Armee Goc-ong, gifted him a brand-new pair right at the competition. For Loreto, it wasnโt just about shoes but it was a symbol of trust, belief, and encouragement.
Teachers and classmates from MCSASHS continued cheering him on, celebrating not just the awards but the hard work behind them. Loretoโs journey shows that dedication, humility, and consistency can shine as brightly as raw talent.
Reflecting on his achievements, Loreto said, โProud kaayo ko sa akong kaugalingon. โ
Loretoโs story is a spark for other young athletes. It shows that where you start doesnโt limit how far you can go. From a young boy learning to serve to a standout on the city stage, his path reflects dedication, gratitude, and growth.
And with every jump, every dive, and every award, Loreto continues to rise, carrying with him the hopes of those who believe in him and inspiring others to chase their own dreams.
