Cheer Pilipinas Unveils Grassroots Program for Visayas and Mindanao

March 30, 2025 – In a significant move for Philippine cheerleading, Cheer Pilipinas Chairman Itos Valdes announced during Day 3 of the National Cheerleading Championship (NCC) that the organization is planning for a grassroots program in Visayas and Mindanao.

As the national governing body for the sport, Cheer Pilipinas aims to expand opportunities for athletes in these regions by developing standalone competitive cheer events, similar to the prestigious NCC. These events will be uniquely designed and will welcome teams from across the country and even international competitors.

To bring this initiative to life, Cheer Pilipinas will work closely with its regional representatives, including Mr. Algen Landas of the Davao Cheer & Dance Alliance (DCDA) and Mr. Lean Pelenio of the Cebu Cheer Association (CebCA).

"These championships we are planning is a big boost for the sports and youth sector of each of those cities" Valdes shared.

This initiative marks a new era for Philippine cheerleading, promising greater accessibility, inclusivity, and growth for the sport across the nation.

This Competition is open for Schools and Cities or Municipalities of Bukidnon, participants from different teams must be 15-30 years old and must be a bonafide resident of the Province of Bukidnon.

Each participating school, City and/or Municipality is entitled to enter only (1) official group composed of eligible performers ( Male and Female) not less than (20) and not more than (25). A maximum of 5 additional numbers of participants that will serve as Spotters and/or Propsmen of the team.
