KOREAN FUGITIVE WANTED UNDER INTERPOL RED NOTICE NETTED IN ILLEGAL GAMBLING CASE

The Philippine National Police, under the command of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, Jr., has apprehended a Korean fugitive wanted by South Korean authorities in connection with a large-scale illegal cyber gambling operation.

On August 7, 2026, personnel of the PNP Intelligence Group’s Foreign Intelligence and Liaison Division and Regional Intelligence Unit 4A, together with the Bureau of Immigration’s Fugitive Search Unit and the General Trias Municipal Police Station of the Cavite Police Provincial Office, apprehended the female Korean national in Barangay Buenavista I, General Trias, Cavite. The operation was conducted in coordination with the Korean National Police Agency and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea.

The arrest was based on Bureau of Immigration Mission Order No. 2026-301 and an INTERPOL Red Notice dated June 15, 2025. The fugitive is wanted under an arrest warrant issued by the Incheon District Court of Korea on April 22, 2025, for violation of Article 47-(2) and Article 26-(1) of Korea’s National Sports Promotion Act involving the operation of an illegal cyber gambling house.

From November 2018 onwards, the female Korean fugitive, who allegedly served as an assistant manager of the criminal syndicate, was involved in an organization that operated 23 illegal gambling websites in Pasay City and Quezon City. The syndicate generated more than 5.33 trillion Korean won in betting transactions, with illegal profits estimated at more than 350 billion Korean won.

The criminal organization was structured into specialized teams, with assistant managers overseeing roughly 300 employees. It allegedly funded bets on sports and casino games through designated bank accounts while recruiting members through promises of high profits. The group also allegedly confiscated passports, intimidated individuals, and subjected them to physical assault.

“This operation demonstrates the PNP’s determination to act on international law-enforcement alerts and pursue fugitives who attempt to evade justice. We will strengthen our partnerships with foreign counterparts and ensure that legitimate intelligence leads to appropriate law-enforcement action,” PNP Chief PGEN Nartatez said.

“Hindi magiging kanlungan ang Pilipinas ng mga taong tumatakas sa batas. Gagawin natin ang ating tungkulin upang matulungan ang ating mga katuwang na maiharap sa hustisya ang mga taong hinahanap ng mga awtoridad,” he added.

PNP ARRESTS SUSPECTED GUNRUNNER, SEIZES TWO UNLICENSED CARBINES IN MAGUINDANAO DEL SUR

The Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested a suspected illegal fi****ms dealer and seized two unlicensed M4A1 carbines during an operation in Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur on August 10, 2026.

The operation was conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), in coordination with PNP Special Action Force and local police and intelligence units, following information on the suspected unauthorized sale and delivery of fi****ms in the area.

Police said the suspect was apprehended while allegedly delivering the two fi****ms without the required licenses and permits. The seized weapons were also found to be unregistered. The suspect is now under police custody and will face appropriate charges for violations of Republic Act No. 10591 and relevant provisions of the Omnibus Election Code.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the PNP will continue to focus its efforts on preventing unlicensed fi****ms from reaching individuals who may use them to threaten public safety or disrupt the electoral process.

“Hindi natin hahayaang maging instrumento ang mga ilegal na baril para manggulo o manakot. We will continue to act on reliable information and make sure that fi****ms are properly accounted for and kept out of the wrong hands,” PGen Nartatez said.

PNP SEIZES OVER ₱4.6-MILLION WORTH OF SMUGGLED CI******ES IN SULTAN KUDARAT

The Philippine National Police (PNP) seized more than ₱4.6 million worth of suspected smuggled ci******es during an operation in Lebak, Sultan Kudarat on August 12, 2026.

Personnel of the Lebak Municipal Police Station, together with the Regional Intelligence Division 12 and other supporting units, were serving a warrant of arrest against a suspect identified only as alias “Mike” in connection with a qualified theft case when they discovered two abandoned open shanties in the area.

The suspect, who was reportedly aboard a motorized banca, managed to evade arrest upon sensing the presence of the operating team. The police team instead secured the items found inside the shanties, consisting of 108 cases of suspected smuggled ci******es with a total estimated value of ₱4,620,672.00.

The confiscated ci******es were inventoried at the Lebak Municipal Police Station and properly coordinated with the Bureau of Customs for examination and appropriate disposition.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the accomplishment demonstrates the importance of police operations that address illegal activities while working closely with other government agencies.

“Every time we take illegal goods out of circulation, we also protect legitimate businesses and the public from the effects of unlawful trade. We will keep doing the work, with proper coordination and in accordance with the law,” PGen Nartatez said.

CARAGA’s NO. 3, NO. 6 MOST WANTED COMMUNIST INSURGENTS FACE MURDER WARRANTS

The Philippine National Police, under the command of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., arrested two Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) personalities listed under the PNP’s Periodic Status Report (PSR) who were also among the Regional Level Most Wanted Persons of Police Regional Office 13 during separate operations in Surigao del Sur and Agusan del Sur on August 10, 2026.

In Surigao del Sur, the Barobo Municipal Police Station, with tactical support from the 1st Special Action Battalion, Special Action Force (1SAB, SAF), served arrest warrants that led to the apprehension of a.k.a. Niel, a PSR-listed CTG squad leader under Squad 2, Sub-Regional Sentro De Grabidad Southland, North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee, and the No. 3 Regional Level Most Wanted Person of PRO 13 for the 3rd Quarter of 2026, in Sitio Logdeck, Barangay San Isidro, Lianga, Surigao del Sur.

The arrested personality faces three counts of Murder, two counts of Frustrated Murder, and one count of Attempted Murder, based on warrants issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 28, 11th Judicial Region, Lianga, Surigao del Sur, on February 23, 2021. The Barobo Municipal Police Station, Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office, took custody of the arrested personality for documentation and proper disposition.

In Agusan del Sur, the 1304th Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 13, together with the Intelligence Special Operations Division–Intelligence Group (ISOD-IG) and with tactical support from the 1st Special Action Battalion, Special Action Force (1SAB, SAF), served arrest warrants that resulted in the apprehension of a.k.a. Janly, a PSR-listed CTG member, former Commanding Officer of SYP Platoon 1, DGF 88, SRC-3, NCMRC, and the No. 6 Regional Level Most Wanted Person of PRO 13 for the 3rd Quarter of 2026, in Purok 1, Barangay Guibonon, Esperanza, Agusan del Sur.

The warrants against a.k.a. Janly covered Murder, Multiple Attempted Murder, Multiple Frustrated Murder, Frustrated Murder, and Attempted Murder, all issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 7, 10th Judicial Region, Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur. The 1304th Maneuver Company, RMFB 13, took custody of the arrested personality for documentation and proper disposition.

The arrests highlight the PNP’s sustained efforts to locate wanted CTG personalities and bring them before the courts to face serious criminal charges.

PNP-PDEA SUSTAIN ANTI-DRUG DRIVE WITH ₱150-MILLION MA*****NA ERADICATION IN KALINGA

The Philippine National Police (PNP) eradicated an estimated ₱150 million worth of ma*****na during an operation in Tinglayan, Kalinga on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, preventing a large volume of illegal drugs from reaching communities.

Police operatives, working with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), uprooted approximately 750,000 fully grown ma*****na plants planted across an estimated 50,000-square-meter communal forest area in Barangay Loccong.

The operation was conducted by personnel from the Kalinga Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Provincial Intelligence Unit, local police stations, mobile force units, and PDEA Kalinga.

The uprooted plants were documented and destroyed on site, while samples were secured for proper examination and disposition.

PNP, BI ARREST 8 KOREAN NATIONALS IN ANGELES CITY OVER IMMIGRATION, FINANCIAL SCAMMING CASES

The Philippine National Police (PNP), through the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), assisted the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in the arrest of eight Korean nationals during the implementation of two BI Mission Orders in Angeles City, Pampanga, in separate operations that extended into the early hours of Thursday, August 13, 2026.

The operations were conducted late Wednesday night, August 12, until the early hours of Thursday, August 13, 2026, at two separate locations in Barangay Anunas and Barangay Pampang, both in Angeles City.

The BI served as the lead agency, with police assistance provided by the CIDG Regional Special Operations Team 3, CIDG Angeles City Field Unit, Regional Intelligence Unit 3, Angeles City Police Office, and other partner units, in coordination with the Korean National Police Agency and Korean Supreme Prosecutor’s Office.

The operation stemmed from alleged violations of Philippine immigration laws and Republic Act No. 12010, or the Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act. The Mission Orders identified one of the arrested Korean nationals as wanted in South Korea over allegations involving the illegal opening and operation of gambling establishments.

Based on the initial report, the individuals were apprehended while allegedly operating online workstations linked to the transfer of proceeds from offshore criminal activities. Preliminary information from Korean authorities indicated that the operators were allegedly managing private bank accounts believed to have been used in the movement of illicit revenues.

The eight arrested individuals were all identified in the report as Korean nationals, including one subject of the operation and seven others apprehended during the same police-assisted enforcement activity.
