First Thursday session of September, and nagpa-bida gyud si CEPALCO today. 😂⚡️

We're not romanticizing anyone's resilience, because honestly, we'd all rather just have uninterrupted play. But despite the surprise power interruptions, everyone still showed up, played hard, and made the most of the afternoon. Kudos to everyone who went all-out!

HELLO, SEPTEMBER ✨

Tuesdays have been one of our staples ever since Smash Potato started hosting. And because so many of you have been enjoying our All-Men's and All-Women's Open Plays, we decided to make Tuesdays 4 hours of play.

For the girls, it's become a space where we can play at our own pace, feel comfortable, and simply be ourselves on the court.

For the boys, it's a chance to bring the heat, battle it out, and enjoy some good competitive rallies.

And of course, both are made better by the people who keep showing up, playing hard, and making Tuesdays what they are.

September is bringing a few changes to the Smash Potato weekly rhythm...

We're adding Thursday Grind and Friday Social to our regular weekly schedule, giving you even more chances to get on court, play good games, and spend time with the community.

Here's what your September looks like:

• Tuesday Rally — Separate Men's & Women's Courts
• Thursday Grind — High Novice to Intermediate
• Friday Social — Novice–Intermediate & Beginner Courts
• Saturday Smash — All Levels
• Sunday Reset — All Levels

Fixed Pairing Debut

Our very first Fixed Pairing session is officially in the books! 💥

8 pairs in Men's Doubles.
8 pairs in Women's Doubles.
A different format from our usual open play, and a fun little test for Smash Potato.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, played through the rounds, and gave the format a shot. We hope you had fun, enjoyed the competition, and maybe discovered a new favorite way to play.

We also had a few hiccups with court management along the way, but that's part of trying something new. 😅

And after putting the Swiss-style format to the test, we've learned one thing... it's really, really good, perhaps a little too good to be our regular "open play" format.

But that's exactly why we try these things, to see what works, what doesn't, and what makes playing more fun for everyone.
