The Philippine Taekwondo Association (PTA) proudly celebrates its 50th Anniversary — five decades of excellence, service, and nation building through the martial art and sport of Taekwondo.

For half a century, the PTA has helped form a strong and resilient citizenry by instilling the indomitable spirit, perseverance, self-mastery, respect, and discipline in generations of Filipino athletes, coaches, instructors, practitioners, and leaders. Through Taekwondo, the PTA continues to shape not only champions in competition, but also responsible, determined, and principled Filipinos who contribute to the nation’s progress.

The celebration was further honored by the presence of distinguished public servants and leaders, including the Hon. Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri, Former President of the Senate of the Philippines, the Hon. Grace Poe, Former Senator of the Republic of the Philippines, and the Hon. Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, Mayor of the City of Manila.

The Golden Anniversary also served as a heartfelt tribute to the sacrifices, vision, and dedicated service of Grand Master Sung-Chon Hong, whose lifelong commitment helped lay the foundation and advance the growth of Philippine Taekwondo. The presence and recognition of his wife and family likewise underscored the invaluable support and sacrifices behind his remarkable journey.

As the PTA looks back on 50 years of achievement, it renews its commitment to forging champions, shaping character, and using Taekwondo as a powerful instrument for discipline, unity, and nation building.
