Getting a 300-game NRL veteran to our home province, having a game of touch footy on Pariva beach, enjoying the simple beauty of Gulf, and capturing a moment like this — it reminds us what sport is really about.

When former Brisbane Broncos, St George Illawarra Dragons and Newcastle Knights star Andrew McCullough visited Gulf Province through the Gulf Province Sports Trust, it wasn't about fame, statistics or professional rugby league. It was about connection. It was about inspiring young people and showing them that dreams can come from anywhere.

In this photo, there are no grandstands, no television cameras, no bright stadium lights. Just children, community, culture and genuine human connection.

For many of our young people, meeting someone who has played over 300 NRL games may be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. But the real impact is not the handshake or the photo — it's the belief that if they work hard, stay disciplined and chase their dreams, anything is possible.

This is why GPST exists. To create opportunities, inspire hope, and use sport as a vehicle for education, leadership and personal development.

Sometimes the most powerful moments aren't found in stadiums. They're found sitting on a log in a Gulf village, surrounded by smiles, stories and the future of our province.
