A few years ago, this was Waikato.

A small tent. Family gathered together. Shared food, laughter, and a love for netball.

In this photo are family members who believed in the journey from the beginning. They showed up, supported, encouraged, and helped build the foundation of what Waikato is today.

We weren’t thinking about how far we would go. We were simply showing up for each other, week after week.

We are more than a team, we are family.

Strong women are built in community, and strong communities are built by families who choose to walk the journey together. 💛💙🏐

This Saturday, our Division 2 team and our Under 21 team both secured important wins.

But the real story isn’t about the scoreboard.

Waikato began in 2010 as a family team. What started with sisters, cousins, aunties, nieces, and extended family coming together has grown into something much bigger than netball.

For over 15 years, Waikato has been a place where family gathers every Saturday, not just to play, but to connect.

Some of our players are mothers. Some are students. Some are young professionals. Some are facing difficult seasons in life. But every week, they show up, not only for the game, but for each other.

From the beginning, our founder believed in resilience, keep showing up, keep building something of your own, and never give up when life gets hard.

That belief has carried Waikato through the years.

The wins on Saturday were built on more than skill. They were built on trust, friendship, commitment, and the bond that comes from being family.

To every PNG woman reading this, strong women are built in community, and strong communities begin with people who choose to show up for one another.

Waikato was built from the ground up.

What started as one team created by our eldest sister slowly fought its way through the lower divisions, reaching Division 2, and continuing to rise. We also now have an U21 team.

But this story is about more than netball.

Behind every game were women carrying real life struggles. Yet week after week, the girls kept showing up for each other.

Waikato became more than a club. It became a safe place for women to breathe, heal, laugh, and keep going.

Netball teaches women resilience. It teaches discipline, commitment, teamwork, and courage. But most importantly, it reminds women that they do not have to face life alone.

To every young girl and woman reading this, keep going, keep showing up, keep believing in yourself. Your struggles do not define you. Your strength does.

Waikato is proof that when women support women, powerful things happen. 🖤🏐

What a Saturday for Waikato. 🖤🤍💛❤️

Two teams. Two games. Two wins.

But beyond the scoreboard, we’re proud of the heart our women brought onto the court,the teamwork, encouragement, resilience, and the way they showed up for one another from start to finish.

This club is about more than netball.
It’s about building a space where women feel supported, strong, and connected. Where our mothers, sisters, daughters, and friends can grow together through sport and community.

So proud of every player, supporter, and sideline cheer today.

For us, Waikato is more than netball.

It’s a place where women come together, to grow stronger, to feel supported, and to belong.

This club is for our mothers, our sisters, our daughters, and our friends.

It’s built on love, care, resilience, and community.

A space where we uplift one another, protect one another, and remind each other that we never stand alone.

Every game, every cheer from the sideline represents something bigger than sport, it represents unity, strength, and the power of women supporting women.

Welcome to the official Waikato Netball Club page 🏐

Waikato Netball Club was founded in 2010 by our elder sister Tui, whose passion and love for netball created the vision for what this club is today.

What started as a dream has grown into a strong community built on family, friendship, support, and empowering women through sport.

We are proud to continue Tui’s vision and look forward to sharing our teams, games, events, achievements, and netball journey with you all.
