Team PNG's Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games campaign has drawn to a close, and the nation extends a warm welcome home to our athletes, coaches, officials, and support staff. Team PNG was formally welcomed home at a Welcome Back Reception held yesterday, 14 August 2026, at Government House, co-hosted by the Governor-General, His Excellency Sir Bob Dadae, and British High Commissioner to PNG, Mr. Paul Eastwood.

The campaign delivered standout performances across multiple disciplines: Morea Baru's bronze medal in the Men's 65kg weightlifting — his fourth Commonwealth Games medal — headlined a strong showing that also included a national record from Jiuteis Robinson in the Men's Mile, personal bests from William Camilus Peka, Robert Oa, Jerome Bunge, Joanna Chen, and Josh Tarere, and a season-best from Regina Edward. Boxers Flora Loga and James Paul showed courage and composure across their respective contests, while the Women's 3x3 Basketball team made a proud Commonwealth Games debut against some of the world's strongest sides.

Every athlete who represented Papua New Guinea in Glasgow, whether returning with a medal, a record, or invaluable experience, has contributed to a campaign built on growth, resilience, and pride. Glasgow 2026 stands as a stepping stone for Papua New Guinea sport, and the standards set here will shape the performances ahead. Congratulations, Team PNG. 🇵🇬

As the curtain falls on an unforgettable Glasgow 2026, Team PNG joins nations across the Commonwealth in celebrating the spirit of friendship, unity, and sporting excellence.

We are incredibly proud of every athlete who wore the red, black and gold with pride. Thank you to everyone at home and around the world who supported Team PNG throughout this remarkable journey.

As we celebrate the Commonwealth family one final time tonight, we also look to the future. The Commonwealth flag now passes to Amdavad, India, which will proudly host the next Commonwealth Games in 2030.

A big thank you to Dave and Dobbie Lowes for bringing a taste of PNG to Glasgow 🇵🇬❤️ After a four-hour drive from Sunderland, they treated Team PNG athletes and officials to an amazing home-style meal.

A new Personal Best for 🇵🇬 Jerome Bunge in the Men's Shot Put F57 Final this morning.

Jerome produced a throw of 9.05m, finishing 9th overall. Well done, Jerome👏

What an exciting race in the Mixed 4x400m Relay Round 1 - Heat 2!

Papua New Guinea's team of Daniel Baul, Isila Apkup, Adolf Kauba and Scholastica Herman gave it everything on the track, crossing the line in 6th place with a time of 3:38.25.
