This winter at Yoga Circle, our theme is JOY.

It was inspired by my own post-holiday blues. After coming home from Japan, I found myself feeling flat.

Now I know that joy isn't something we simply stumble across or have to wait around hoping to feel.

Joy is something we get to practise.

It is something we can cultivate by paying attention to what nourishes us and intentionally creating experiences that give us something to look forward to.

It was from that place that I decided to make joy the focus for my Yoga Circle members this winter.

And from there, these Yoga mini retreats in the Yurt were born.

So here's a question for you...

When was the last time you gave yourself something to genuinely look forward to?

This Sunday afternoon, I'm looking forward to sharing yoga in this gorgeous yurt and spending an hour focusing on joy.

Not the kind of happiness that depends on everything going perfectly...

The quieter kind that comes from slowing down, breathing deeply, moving your body, reflecting, and reconnecting with yourself.

For one hour, you too can step away from the endless to-do list and simply be.

📍 The Space, Kamo

One of the lovely things about these afternoons is that I don't teach face-to-face very often these days.

Most of my classes are online through Yoga Circle, so these mini retreats are a rare opportunity to practise together in person in such a beautiful, peaceful space.

Come on your own or bring a friend. Leave feeling calmer, lighter, and more connected.

Sometimes the greatest act of self-care is putting something beautiful in your diary and giving yourself something to look forward to.

There are still a few places available, if you would like to join us.

If you can't make this one? There are still more Mini yoga retreats to come:

♡ 23 August – Deepening Joy
♡ 20 September – Creating Space
♡ 1 November – New Beginnings
♡ 29 November – Visibility & Celebration

If this "sparks joy" DM or comment below I will send the details

p.s: cost is $30.00 and you can book a sauna and cold plunge afterwards. My plan was to do that but I had a small surgery so need to keep my foot dry this month.

But 100% recommend it!! Yoga and a Sauna = SUBLIME!!

One of the ways we create the life we want , and a body we love is by keeping the small promises we make to ourselves.

I teach yoga online Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays at 7.00am 🧘‍♀️ In these sessions, we practice doing this.

"Being women who keep the promises they make to themselves"

After my morning yoga class yesterday, I saw these two messages (clock the time)

These two women usually come to my morning classes.

Both couldn’t make it that morning

Both still got up

Both did their yoga practice anyway.

They didn't make excuses.

They showed up and keep the promises they made themselves

And honestly… it delighted me so much.

We get to define our own success criteria.

And seeing how I have supported women to establish their own home yoga practice they can rely on — is one of mine.

It's just so cool see them
♡ Show up for themselves
♡ Roll out their mats
♡ And have the confidence they know what to do so they could do their own small practice.

Taking care of their bodies now for their future selves.

So proud!

Keeping the promises you make to yourself is what a real yoga practice looks like. 🧘‍♀️

What’s one small promise you’ve kept to yourself this week?

"What we focus on expands"

This morning in our yoga practice we focussed on beauty and today's task is to practice noticing beauty that surrounds you.

This was a beautiful moment in my garden this morning.

Simple and peaceful

Beauty is everywhere .... just waiting to be noticed.

Use this thread to post the beauty you notice today.

Let's light up social media beauty (there is already enough ugly stories online)

p.s: If you would like to join us online from home so you too could start your day with movement, great company and inspiration for the day ahead DM me.... we have a lovely, affordable membership which supports you in making yoga a regular practice so you can live with strength, flexibility and balance.

It is with great sadness that I share that our dear friend Steve Bowker passed away suddenly.

Steve has been part of our Yoga Circle community for over a decade of showing up sharing life, and a regular yoga practice.

Many of you will remember his warmth, his outgoing nature, and the genuine interest he took in others.

He always had time for a conversation, was generous in sharing what he learned about health and wellbeing, and was a loyal and caring friend to many.

Steve loved being part of the community whether at yoga gatherings, travelling with us to the Philippines, or sharing stories from his many adventures.

He had a real love of travel and an active life, often out exploring on his mountain bike or motorbike, and embracing new experiences along the way.

He will be deeply missed.

Our thoughts and love are with his family and everyone who knew and cared for him.

Rest easy Steve

You were a great friend and I am ever so glad Yoga Circle found a way into your heart and was part of your life for so long.

pic I took of Steve one day in a jungle on a tropical island in the Philippines where we (and other friends) practiced yoga together

Do you set a Word of the Year?

For years I did, but honestly, by the end of summer my word had usually faded into the background and been replaced by whatever big event was dominating life.

Looking back:
• 2019 became shingles
• 2020 became Covid
• 2021 became mandates

So in 2022, I decided to do things differently.
Instead of committing to one word for the whole year, I chose a word each month.

In January 2022 my word was BE! I gave myself permission to simply be.
By February, my word shifted to PROUD, and I stayed with it for the rest of the year.

When I reflect on 2022, I can honestly say I was proud of how I showed up, the decisions I made, what I created, what I learned, and the online community I built to support women in creating balance and thriving lives.

In 2023, my word was EVOLVE — and that’s exactly what I did. I grew, healed, learned new skills, and stepped more fully into my role as a business owner, leader, and coach. Running a business isn’t just strategy, it’s deep personal development.

Each month I recommitted to evolving, and I invited Yoga Circle members to do the same.

In 2024, I continued this practice.

In 2025, my word was Self-Disciplined. Resulting in a powerful year of showing up consistently for myself and my vision.

And in 2026, my word is QUANTUM —I am a Quantum woman who expands, grows, and creates beyond what I’ve known before.

I’d love to hear yours.

What is your Word of the Year?

Drop it in the comments — you never know who you might inspire just by sharing your story.

If you would like a smaller community to connect with- where we recommit to our word of the month each month...come on over to my FREE FB Group...I'll pop the link in the comments.

We can connect there too
