Another awesome day on the water for the combined gulf harbour and Weiti boating club winter series. Good to see Weiti boats taking the top spot in both divisions.
Cheap Transport taking white division on handicap and Mix T Motions taking the double line and handicap win for yellow division.

Another great fleet of 11 Weiti and 15 Gulf Harbour boats lined up for the 8th and final race of the Burnsco summer cruising series. Course 10 to Waiheke was chosen which provided a mostly upwind shifty beat in 10-12knots of breeze. This years series has been extremely close points wise, and going into the last race Rummager Chockawalla and Quintessence all had a chance to win overall so were all keeping a good watch on each other's positions. With an out going tide and a fading breeze, the beat from Park point to the finish at Rocky Bay became very tricky and tactical. Tuxedo Junction sailed extremely well on this leg overtaking many boats hugging the shore, and being the only boat in the fleet to lay through without tacking ending up third on line behind Quintessence (2nd) and Planet X (first). Rocky bay was a perfect venue for the BBQ and prize giving and a great way to end the season. Weiti results were 1st on line and handicap Quintessence, 2nd Tuxedo Junction, 3rd Chockawalla. A massive thanks to series sponsors Burnsco and Fishing Direct NZ. Its been really good to see the number of boats taking part grow throughout the series and is looking very positive for next summer.

Hi Everyone. Just reminding you that we have the second part of the short-handed series this Sunday. This is a harbour race from Arkles Bay, around Rangitoto and back (optional direction),with the start being at 0:900. Looking forward to seeing as many boats out there as possible. Great conditions and turnout for yesterday's Burnsco Summer Cruising Series race to Waiheke. 11 boats started from Arkles bay for the 14nm course to Oneroa with a beach BBQ and prize giving in Onetangi.
A beam reach in 15-20kts the whole way saw the first boat Rogue 3 finish in under 2hrs to take the line and handicap win narrowly ahead of Rummager and Quintessence with all 3 winning a generous Burnsco voucher for their efforts.
The Fishing Direct NZ fishing prize was won by Peter Wright on the Tuxedo Junction.

Hi Everyone. The cruising race this Friday is to Oneroa. After we finish the race, we'll head around to Onetangi for the BBQ. It's looking SW all weekend, which should be great weather for the outside of Waiheke. Also remember there's a fishing prize too. All members are welcome at the BBQ, whether racing or not. Hi everyone. Monday's course details:
The start line will be between the red outer Weiti river marker and an orange inflatable buoy, which will be set. Take the orange mark to port. It will be a self-start (I.e. no start boat). Start at 12:00 - GPS time. Mahunui will be race control, so please call in on the VHF with your POB. From there we will race to Narrow Neck (mark no. 8) (take to port), then Mckenzie Buoy (mark no. 10) (take to port), then Gulf Harbour Buoy (mark: b) (take to Port), then finish back up at the start line - (taking the orange buoy to starboard for the finish). Take your own finish time and send to the WhatsApp chat or text to 021 137 2846. There is a link below with information on the locations of all the racing marks referred to above:

Note re dinghies: Seeing as we're returning to base after the race, we'll waive the requirement to carry a dinghy, so you can leave your dinghy behind.

Hi everyone. CHANGE OF CRUISING RACE DETAILS FOR MONDAY: Due to the bad weather forecast and the cancellation of the Mahurangi Anniversary Weekend Regatta, we will be changing our cruising race (which was going to be a race back from Mahurangi) to start from ARKLES BAY at 12:00 Monday. We'll race along the East Coast Bays and back to Arkles Bay, with a prizegiving back at the club afterwards. I'll post the exact course and start/finish instructions on the weekend. It should be a good fun afternoon and evening. Bring you own dinner to cook on the BBQ on the clubhouse deck. There will be a fishing prize for the heaviest fish weighed in at the BBQ if that's more your thing. Hi Everyone. We're off to Kawau again for Race 4 of the Burnsco Summer Cruising series. Start time on Friday is 6pm. Start line will be in the vicinity of Arkles Bay. Course 3 to Kawau (same as last time). Should be a nice fresh sou'wester to blow us all there before it gets too late. BBQ / prizegiving will be at 4pm Saturday on the lawn next to Lidgard House in Lidgard Bay. GHYC will be there too, for a great Christmas get-together! You'll have plenty of time on Saturday to catch a fish so hopefully we can have some competition for the fishing prize! The weather is looking amazing for the whole weekend and we look forward to seeing you all out there! It's great to see so many Weiti boats out there and competing at a high level in some of the bigger races.

Kick Elliott 1050 Yachting was on form in the recent Cavalli Island race taking Line honors and second overall for the 2 handed division as well 2nd overall out of the whole fleet on phrf. A great warm up for the up and coming SSANZ round north island 2 handed race in February.

We wish Kelcey Gager and crew all the best for the Pied Piper intergalactic championships this weekend. Let's hope they can continue their good form after such a dominant performance in the Weiti 2 handed windward leward series.
