NHC Day Two update: another beautifully sunny match for the boys against Tasman. Huge kudos to Tasman, whose superb 3D skills in around the circle saw them put five past us (backing up the six goals they put past Southland yesterday). Our boys worked very hard in the heat again, and probably enjoyed quite a lot more possession than in the game against Taranaki yesterday. Alas, we won more corners but came away without any goals. Never mind, bring on Southland tomorrow!
More important than the hockey, allow us to say thank you to a few more legends for supporting the team:
First, thank you to HW Chairperson, Kirsty Parsons, who came down to support today, brought some food, and took all of today's photos (bar the one of the morning stretch on the beach - thank you to Calum Wilbur for that one!).
Second, an even bigger thank you to two players who would be playing but for finger injuries (yes, both of them... best not to ask): Dan Brasting and Cam Burgess. Dan and his partner Suz would both like to be playing NHC this year, but despite not playing decided to come down and support the team anyway (and stay with the team in Kapiti - a brave choice!). Dan is now coaching and providing expert QT and HT analysis; Suz is now the best GK warmer upperer of all time.
As for Cam, he is fighting off his parents, Rusty and Sandy, for the title of #1 HW supporter! Cam has meticulously sliced oranges for both of our games and provided lollies, because he's a legend. He's also provided semi-successful Wellington bar/eatery advice! Thanks, mate. Is that enough to top Sandy's egg and bacon pie though... We'll put it to a vote! Anyway, huge thanks to team, Burgess!
