A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to enter our sponsored hunt giveaway. We had some fantastic entries, and choosing a winner certainly wasn’t easy!

Congratulations to Rory Francis, whose dream hunt story earned him this year’s prize. We can’t wait to get you out on the hills for a hunt with us at Backblocks Guided Hunting & Adventures.

A big thanks to everyone who entered, and to the organisers and the team at Wilsons Hunting and Outdoors for putting on another great event. It’s fantastic to see so many young hunters getting involved and carrying on the future of hunting.

After having an epic couple of days hunting we thought we’d love to hear about your stories from your hunts! We’ve decided to extend the competition to Wednesday 29th July, so get writing 🔫🦌🐗🦚🐇🐐

When hunting time is also family time - there’s no better way to spend quality time together than getting out on the hills.

And wrapping the morning up with a quick BBQ, because food always tastes better in the backblocks.

As part of our sponsorship, we’re giving one lucky youngster and their parent or caregiver the chance to win a half-day hunt with us at Backblocks Guided Hunting & Adventures.

To be in the draw, we’d love to hear from the kids. Tell us what hunting means to you, what hunt has stood out the most so far, or what animal you’d love the chance to hunt one day. We’d also love to hear why you’d like to spend an afternoon hunting with us!

Josh popped in for a quick weeknight meat hunt.
We like knowing our clients can rely on us when the freezer starts looking a bit low. A couple of great meat animals on the ground and plenty of quality venison heading home with Josh👌🏼🍽️

Great to have Thomas, Aranka and young Jan-Daniël out for a family hunting getaway.

Aranka successfully took her first deer and first buck🦌, while young Jan-Daniël took a real shine to country life - especially Blue, our Labrador, who quickly became his mate for the weekend 🐾
An awesome weekend and plenty of smiles all round.

Pretty epic afternoon hunt with Ryan from H2O Softwash Exterior Cleaning.

The weather was doing its best to keep things interesting, with hailstones nearly the size of golf balls, rolling thunder, and strong winds. It made for a challenging hunt, but we managed to get the jump on this old boy.

A great buck to have on the deck - an old, cunning wild buck with a heap of character.

He’s now with Ruahine Taxidermy and will soon have pride of place on the wall for years to come.
