An abundance of High School Hoops across the motu this week, with the action already getting underway in the Northern Cup and ‘A’ North Island Premierships!

Together with BNZ, we’re creating more free, welcoming places for tamariki, rangatahi, whānau and communities to play across Aotearoa.

Jackson Ball gets the nod as a member of the FIBA U18 Asia Cup All-Star Five after averaging 20.8 points, 4.0 assists and 1.7 steals per game throughout the tournament! 😤

Bronze for our U18 Men! 🥉
On the back of 29 points and 7 assists from Jackson Ball, the New Zealand U18 Men defeat Korea 102-97 to bring home bronze in Ahmedabad!
A great finish to a successful campaign that sees them qualify for the 2027 FIBA U19 World Cup in Czechia! 🎟

Harbour Basketball was deeply saddened to hear the devastating news that our Chairman Blair Johnson passed away last month.
Blair joined our Board in 2017 and was elected Chair after the 2018 AGM, and November would have seen his eighth year as Chair. He was an outstanding Chair, helping us to navigate the significant headwinds of Covid-19 and to guide Harbour to become the organisation that we are today. Our strong relationship with Basketball New Zealand and many of the regional basketball Associations is a testament to his leadership.
His excellence as Chair matched his excellence in life. Blair was extremely competitive at school and at University, playing multiple sports at a high level. His greatest sporting love was basketball and he excelled at it. His achievements included selection for the Junior Tall Blacks, captaining the Waikato U20 team to a National title, and multiple stints with NBL teams in Waikato and Auckland.
Blair graduated with a BMS degree with first class honours from Waikato University and then had a highly successful business career predominantly as the Chief Financial officer of a number of large organisations in the banking, oil and gas and medical industries. He was an outstanding corporate leader.
To Blair’s wife Kelly and to Aimee and Max we share your profound sadness.
